    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

The change isn't the finishers coming on, it's that the opposition can't maintain their super quick d-line speed for the whole game. Which is the issue with putting To'omua starting at 10. He's going to look just as bad as all our other half options at the start of the game cause we still...

What changed a couple of years ago; if you stand out and catch the ball you took it out if it hadn't crossed the plane. Wales started in so not impacted by that change

    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

All our 9 and 10s look like diamonds in the last 35 minutes when the game loosens up and like crappy bits of coal for the first half when teams are still able to carryout their full press rush defense. What's the answer against England? I have no idea. Probably back to White/CLL with Genia and...

    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

This is the great conundrum of our sport. Nobody knows when the ball is out except for the ref, and he's got his back to the offside line (which is exactly how refs are taught to position themselves by the way) AR, TMO etc can't really make a call. They don't know when the ref thinks the balls out.

It's hard to tell, but I think he's probably already picked the ball off the ground in the top screenshot. Definately in the second one

You can't know if that's where the ball is out from the screen cap. The other view cut too late to tell. This overhead view tells a pretty different story

? You need to see where he is before the ball is out to see if he was onside. Genia took an age to pass the ball. I don't think the broadcast showed a view where you could tell if he was ever onside or not

The ball is out in every screen cap that's been posted so far. We need one where the ball is still in the ruck to tell if he's offside. Must have been a AR call. Poite is looking the opposite direction and couldn't make the call.

    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

What a terrific test match, that one had everything. Momentum swinging all over the place, good bit of controversy to keep the juices flowing, big hits, amazing skill. Competitive right to the final second. How good to be getting critical scrum penalties even with the reserves on. Well done...

That's my understanding as well the tribunal went through the framework, using the guidelines and couldn't come up with a high degree of danger. But decided it was high danger anyway

RWC Week 2 - thread for matches without a match thread*

So far this world cup Jack Carty has passed the ball 13 times and kicked it 13 times. Think they missed their injury prone 34 year old fly half Sexton way more than Irish fans would be comfortable with

Great game. Loving it almost as much as this crowd

RWC Week 2 - thread for matches without a match thread*

Ireland taking the league blueprint, multiple phases and then scoring off the kick with penalty advantage. Good game so far. Japanese would want to be next to score though

Yeah, they are fine, and in accordance with the laws. Unless Brits can't replace Mbonambi

RWC Week 2 - thread for matches without a match thread*

Laws of rugby say you need to name 6 trained front rowers in the 23 man squad, and have to be able to replace each front rower in the first instance as needed. If Brits gets injured or carded and then the hooker goes down, things get interesting

    Refereeing decisions

The other interesting one is Matu'u. He got three weeks, but the three weeks doesn't include this week because he's out following an HIA. So apparently suspensions don't include games where you would not have played due to injury?

    Refereeing decisions

Going through the judgement, it's kind of unclear what Cheika is talking about. But this quote gives it away They went through the framework, and didn't find enough there to deem the tackle high risk, but deemed it high risk anyway. Which may be fair enough, but you can understand why a coach...
