    Week 2 - Wallabies 22

I'm a great fan of Hux though not as a 12. However I have been told that on one set of stats he missed 8 tackles last night.

Sadly that says it all. Dead man walking. Now let's see if those who do have "a hands on role" can deliver. After all they have almost a whole season to do so.

That may well be the case, Doug. Why the gossip may have some credibility is that the Brumbies' senior player group has previous form in relation to regicide.

As against that, how disappointing to see so few scrums.

    OK, who's injured?

The real worry with ankles is if it's a syndesmosis injury or high ankle sprain, which seems to make months to come back from. Hopefully this is not the problem as Horwill deserves better luck than he has had and the Reds need him back as soon as possible.

Doug, it is the nature of such matters that there is almost never "evidence" as such. Straws in the wind. Hence my use of "maybe" and "I wonder".

    Cipriani Nightclub Investigation

I'll bet they kept a close eye on the spirits stock at the 161 Club last night.

Maybe he should spend more time coaching attack and less time plotting against Friend who sadly seems to be dead man walking. I wonder how big a role Larkham played in the Nucifora sacking.

    Waratahs 2011

Absolutely brilliant, Reddy. As in the famous exchange: OSCAR WILDE: I wish I had said that Whistler. JAMES McNEILL WHISTLER: Ah, you will, Oscar, you will. I am sure I will find use for "mediocre" as a verb in things I write in the future. Pure poetry.

One for the irony aficionados, LG?

Nothing could justify playing rugby at ANZ Stadium. Don't forget to take your binoculars.

    Cipriani Nightclub Investigation

"In footage seen by the Herald Sun, a man who appears to be Cipriani leans across the bar about 3.45am and swipes a bottle of spirits. "Venue staff follow the man, as he moves with the bottle jammed between his legs, to the other end of the bar and retrieve the item. The nightclub said Cipriani...

I think another key match-up is Fainga'a v Carter. And I do think it can - or should - impact on RWC hopes.

    Waratahs v Reds Match Thread

If Tom Carter is the weakest link in the Waratahs' defensive line, the Reds' best hope is to kick lots of penalty goals.

Nobby private schools have "co-curricular activity". I would like to think that public schools still do "sport".

    JO'N Contract Extended

Agreed, Reg, but when you look at how the AFL operates we are miles off the pace.

It is a huge call, and extraordinary that they have had to try such an experiment in Round 2. I really hope it works for them.

    JO'N Contract Extended

That seems like an excellent idea, Reg. Do you have any knowledge of when they propose to start?

    Deans contract extended

Sorry, Cutter, I was in mischievous mood.

My perception, rsa, is that one of the features of the Waratahs defence is the way they maintain shape and structure out wide with the backs moving up in unison. I would have thought that "sprinting out of the line" was more Anthony Fainga'a's go.
