If it happens only in RWC years then it gives all free license to go off shore and then be included in rugby’s showpiece. We will be competitive in WC years and most likely not in the others.

We have players go overseas which opens up places in Super Rugby for more players. The same ones playing NRC that cannot get a Super Rugby contract right now. With 4 franchises now the number of contracts is severely limited. The current setup discourages potential Wallabies from even pursuing the path...

No I’m not and in my opinion, no they do not. I am not alone thinking that dropping the Giteau law is a good idea. Several prominent rugby advocates are suggesting it. It’s going to happen regardless of what you or I think. It’s just when it happens. Stoutly defending the policies that are...

Maybe we should. What we should not do is to continue what we have been doing.

And I would bet that the Socceroos draw a much larger Australian TV audience than the Wallabies when they play despite their low ranking. People are excited about soccer despite the quality of our league and the modest results of our national side. In Australia the health of rugby appears to...

Yet the code continues to grow in Australia.

The same people who have let the code slide in Australia have devised these guidelines to protect it. They do not work, pure and simple.

Why has that not happened with soccer? It continues to grow and thrive in Australia.

I don’t think so. The Soup is dead already. Rugby in Oz is already dying. This could actually reinvigorate it. It’s a very narrow path to the Wallabies as it stands, 20% narrower than a year ago.

Time to drop or relax the Giteau law to allow OS players to be available for Wallaby selection. It is failing to keep prominent current players in Super rugby and is really limiting Cheika and co in selection. Now with only 4 Super Rugby sides, which has pushed even more players offshore due to lack of...

    Australian Rugby / RA

It makes sense for Clyne and Castle to appoint someone in between them an Cheika as they clearly do not have the required understanding of the game and coaching to make informed decisions about player and coach contracts. Time will tell if SJ is a good choice or not. Are there not several...

Yes, little will change between now and the RWC, even if a couple of support coaches are replaced. The most important aspect of our game that has degenerated has been the forward play in general, including set piece. The three person selection panel will be good and I hope the third selector...

    Aussie Player Exodus

A world class backrow does not necessarily have to be made up of 3 WC players. A great back row is often one that is far superior to the sum of its parts. Angus Cottrell is another I like to see in the mix.

At test level capable is good but accomplished is better. McMahon is kind of a combo of Pocock and Hooper with a little more height. His running game is excellent and he tackles like both Hooper and Pocock but he basically brings similar attributes. 6.Higgers 7.Pocock 8. Naisarani or 6.Dempsey...

Problem is that it will not change much for the Wallabies unless there are other major alterations. Support staff, selections, game plan etc. What chance is there of that if Cheika remains head coach?

Back 3 is his best area, maybe fullback will end up being his best spot. Not his fault that he has been played everywhere. He’s probably the most consistent Wallaby back alongside DHP. I wonder where he slots in for the Rebels next year?

If Cheika stays with Johnson DOR nothing much changes except that RA have an extra salary to cover.

The bloke has never had a bad performance for Australia and can kick goals from anywhere inside 60 m. He's played 10,11,12,13,14 and filled in at 15. I think you are selling him short.

My understanding was that Fardy was not offered an RA/ARU top up after having one for a long time. A sure sign that he was no longer required. Either way it reinforces the need for central contracting.
