Round 2: Reds v Canes. Sunday.

This is a very exciting concept, though I do wonder how long it will take the team to get used to that sort of change and flexibility. Still there's a lot of opportunity to shift style with some of the selection without dipping in quality.

    Brumbies 2024

I believe they mentioned a new interpretation this year where both sides have to be advancing for you to get the pay off, so the situation where only one side advances you much more at risk of being picked up for angling in, wheeling, etc. Not sure of the specifics or if I like it yet, but I do...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Not sure exactly how closely that average of 166k compares to last years ratings model, but the numbers I could find for last years FTA games were from 67k-76k (5 City Metro). These were all games on GEM so the comparison isn't as direct, but it's still a pretty big jump overall, particularly...

Super Rugby Round One: Western Force vs Hurricanes

As expected, Marley Pearce has been cited: https://www.rugby.com.au/news/western-force-prop-setbacks-deepen-as-pearce-cited-following-hurricanes-defeat-2024226

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

I don't think there's any issue there. I didn't notice it at the ground so made a point to pay attention when watching the replay. The angle's could be clearer, but to me it was reasonably clear on the slow motion replay that Perese's head snaps forward first and then back - the "whiplash...

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

Just finished my rewatch after having been there, a few more thoughts: For the Reds: - I thought Hodgman did some really good solid work around the ground, particularly on the carry, he's a real bonus for us this year. - Paisami just looks so bloody ready for it this year, it's great to see. -...

    Super Rugby General Chat

It's not there yet, capacity is capped at 8k and the Eastern stand still needs to be redone. Additionally there is nowhere near the capacity for corporates, which as I understand is significant earner at Suncorp. When the Eastern stand is redone there will be room to take some in season games...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Reds v tahs rated 736k last night: Sounds like solid numbers, particularly given the late shift to the main channel.

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

This style of game really suits him, he seemed to be having a ball out there.

    Queensland Reds 2024

I think that's probably more the danger of having Vunivalu and Petaia in your starting back 3, gambling on those hammies and ankles staying solid. If Harry McLaughlin-Phillips hadn't already come on he probably would've come on instead of Kalani at wing.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Depends on how they finished - that list has basically a Colts xv on the bench, wouldn't be surprised if it turned around in the second half playing men against boys.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Yeah, that seemed to be when he cooked his legs. Pretty sure he came off just after that, but memory from the ground is never perfect.

    Queensland Reds 2024

The way he waddled off I think his hamstrings or quads will be in need of a week off. That said I thought it was actually a pretty good game for Vunivalu. Did just about everything right including a deft kick through to setup the penalty try. Not super involved but also not over playing his...

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

Great start to the season, was wet a muggy as all hell at the ground. Crowd was good and vocal in the members areas but it looked light on elsewhere, maybe 10k. I guess that's the dangers of starting the season with the big games when we're struggling to be seen. As far as the game itself goes...

Super Rugby 2024: NZ, Drua & Moana matches

It has begun - Drua score a try, convert it from the sideline and Christie gets a yellow card

Super Rugby Round One: Western Force vs Hurricanes

I think every team will be, but not necessarily this round. I know for the Australian sides RUPA struck a deal where players had to have two weeks minimum with the new mouthguards to get used to them before they'd have to wear them, and for the at least the Reds they only arrived a week ago...

That's probably a question for the doctors

Super Rugby Round One: Western Force vs Hurricanes

Pearce very lucky. Won't be surprised if he still ends up in front of the judiciary. Likely misses a week with a head knock either way

Super Rugby Round One: Western Force vs Hurricanes

Has to be, doesn't it? That's another tight 5 foward they'll likely be missing next week. Rebels scrum is going to give them nightmares.

Super Rugby Round One: Western Force vs Hurricanes

Viljoen looked like an absolute prick out there. Perfect halfback, no notes.
