    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

daz, I guess where I disagree with you is on the message Delve was giving to the team. I reckon he was just saying, come on boys, there's still heaps of time left, let's just keep the scoreboard ticking over. Note that when it ticked down to less than 15 to go we started kicking for the corners...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

All of this. Stu, I actually think Phipps didn't help Cips either. He was flinging the ball out everywhere, it was just as often going over his head, or barely getting to his toes than it was out in front of his hands. I'm not excusing Cips who was terrible in his own right, but Phipps was shocking.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Just on the late penalties the Rebels took. At first I was absolutely filthy with Delve, but after a couple of minutes I completely saw where he was coming from. He was actually showing a lot of confidence in the boys, without being completely unrealistic about things. At the time the Rebels...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

I didn't rate Phipps' game at all to be honest, he's got nowhere near as good a pass as Stirzaker for one and he doesn't offer as much around the park as Kingi. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets overtaken towards the end of the season. If you want to see a proper passing scrumhalf...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

It was only against the Tahs, I'm not too worried. Wasn't a great night for it in fairness, there was a nasty wind, bit chilly... not that many people out and about. It wasn't particularly heavily promoted either.

Moral victory to the Rebels then. Seriously though, congrats 'Tahs. Limited, but brutally effective. Good to see Palu running around properly again, Timani Jr. looks class as does Foley.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Heading off now, time for sneaky couple of beverages before the match. I'll just remind everyone that the Tahs really should win by at least 25, and that anything less will be both humiliating and an indication that maybe they don't have the bestest, greatest, most awesomest pack ever assembled...

Mate, I'm more than happy to cop some flack if I'm wrong as well. I'm just not entirely convinced that the Tahs pack is as good as the hype, and that the Rebels pack is as bad as the internet would have you believe. Still, we'll know who's right in three and a half hours I guess.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Man-for-man I agree with you. Saffy is on the bench because he's been injured for most of the pre-season and they're just easing him back in. Robinson is most definitely better than Freier. Sommerville's importance was as a pack leader, I don't think we lose all that much in terms of playing...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

I don't think the Rebels forwards are as pathetic as common memory has it. They were solid if unspectacular, they rarely got on top of opposing teams but weren't often completely blown away. Most of the tries were leaked by backs refusing to tackle as well as appalling defensive alignment and...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

So I've heard this James O'Connor kid might be better than Carter [/segue]

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

First half of the article is quite balanced, then he just loses it and says Cipriani is shit, Bieber is the only one who can play and the Rebels still can't defend. I'm not too worried about Cips, during the trials I saw him smash Ice Toeava out as he was flying down the line to score, bring...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

You must be thinking of someone else. Tommy Carter doesn't miss tackles.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

That post was virtually 100% FACT. I suppose Foley is only an ex-Sevens Captain, and the Rebels do have some kid called O'Connor, but that's about it.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Tahs by 25+. Anything less will be an abject humiliation. After all, they do have one of the strongest packs in SupeRugby history. Not to mention an oke who has been robbed of a Springbok jersey at scrum half, a vastly experienced flyhalf running the show, the best defensive centre in Australia...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Tahs by 18. Huxley to miss 14 tackles, throw a forward pass and knock the ball on twice.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

I'm only having a laugh boys, it's definitely not the strongest Tahs lineup, but it will be way too good for the Rebels. Especially considering our backrow looks like it's going to be Jones, Charmberlain, Delve.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

    That Tahs line-up looks weak.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

And I still want to know why we didn't pick up one, or both of, Jenkins and Lam? Let alone Fainga'a Jr. or Hooper. Lipman is decent, if limited, and he won't be around forever - surely a top young openside should be a number one priority.
