    Wallabies Trinations Squad

It was a common thread through the internationals in 2009, as mentioned in the wiki. Slipper isn't carrying that baggage - and maybe Al isn't either, but it was so excruciating at the time that I'm not picking him.

    Wallabies Trinations Squad

In the 2009 internationals I remember thinking we just can't pick Baxter again - the penalty.... penalty is just too much, whether it is deserved or not.

TPN also offers more time receiving treatment. The ARU negotiated this with channel 9 so as to control the timing of commercials during wallaby games.

The wrecking bull is a new innovation in deconstruction. It's organic, and natural, and therefore much better than the wrecking ball. In Palu's case, unfortunately, the correct term is the wrecked bull.

Barnes can play a couple of full games of club rugby before he is available for selection in my 22.

The Elsom Saga - Clubs withdrawing offers is all the rage...

I agree that a fit Elsom is still a considerably better player than Higgers . At least on the strength of the internationals last year it is obvious. The evidence to support that this year is more tenuous, but only because of Elsom's injuries rather than any superlative form of H. I do think...

I for one welcome our new elsom overlord.

The Conference System: Success or Failure?

I too have tried to forget the reds being thrashed by the tahs in week 2, but it will stick with me for some time.

A number 8 on your back

I tried to watch the waratahs vs brumbies twice and was only partially successful each time ("Not the football again!"), so my viewing was patchy. But Vaea's ability to make ground in the face of the best defense going around was very impressive. He has been solid all season. If he keeps...

    What has happenned to advantage

At first it seemed they were just doing a short lost-forward/turnover advantage, basically giving the side that gained possession just enough time to secure it and start to use it. But in the Tahs game I'm pretty sure there was a penalty advantage that was barely an advantage at all, they...

IRB U/20 Tournament and Oz Squad

Heh, heh. While he is clearly preferred over Pocock and as some have said the clear alternative to Elsom as captain for the wallabies, it's not clear he would run on for the u20s. It's a conspiracy. More saliently, would he be allowed under tournament rules? Would he be any good on Wed night...

    Queensland Reds V Chiefs 2011R18

I really think that Elsom should shuffle - sorry - limp off and let Gill be captain now.

Pocock will finally get that run he warrants at 12 and Gill will be away.

    Finals predictions

We were the weaker conference. The Force and Brumbies both underperformed, though the latter decided to find their mojo for a couple of games in time to give the Reds indigestion. The 3rd and 4th placed australian teams didn't do enough against other sides. I guess the Tahs did bully the other...

    Rebels v Force 2011R17

The Force thrives when they - esp their backrow - can get all handsy with the tackled player and the ball. Sometimes the ref won't allow it.

Nursie has gone missing. As have the force.

    Why is Tom Carter unpickable?

You may kill me now. I have reached Nirvana, and seen perfection. This may be my last post, I can not hope to exceed that which precedes.

110% Gingernut - brings a nice balance to the backline.

The Reds don't need Rocky, but they do need to continue the flow of good young players being given opportunity. Which you can say for the Tahs and Brumbies, at least, as well. The hole in the wages bill to get him will cost you now and into the future.
