This is being very kind to Newsome - he is an exceptionally average Super Rugby player. With the depth of talent that should be available to the Tah's, someone like Newsome should be a fringe squad player at best.

I agree with pretty much everything you said but there is definitely the potential for Aus. rugby to better leverage/ market its players through the various channels, even if they aren't as well-known as previously.

So really the only solution is to grow Australian rugby until it's in a position that we can afford to keep a bloke like Meafau around - easy.
