    Wallabies 2023

Scott Sio will surely be in the mix. Arguably our strongest scrummaging LHP atm.

Bledisloe 2. Eden Park, 24th Sept 7.05pm NZT. 5.05 pm AEST, 3.05 WA

Brumbies will again have the strongest squad but Tahs will be best coached. Should be an interesting battle for top Aussie side.

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) 2023 General Chat

Reg, like your crystal ball. February is still so far away but it is a distraction from recent events at the national team level. Re the Brumbies 2023 : Jahrome Brown - I think will be the starting no 7; Corey Toole - I hope you're right. I've been nervous about his defensive capabilities but...

KOB I think Donaldson and Edmed are about on par with Noah in talent but obviously a bit behind on experience atm. I reckon the best of the lot might be sitting behind your duo at the Tahs, in Jack Bowen. I was very impressed with his performances in the U20s (?) tournament this year and his...

    6) So by 2027 (5 years from now) we should be ok for 2025? Excuse my little dig. I understand what you're saying and hope to see a bit more consistency in selections from now to RWC23 and beyond. 4) I agree. Our plan seems to be to kick the ball on first or second phase in the first half, ie...

That was really hard to take. Quite a few of the players did not perform to the required level, at least in some aspects of their games. In particular, i) all three wingers (Koroibete, Wright and Petaia) were so far off the pace as to be liabilities. MK due to injury (I believe), and both...

    Brumbies 2023

Some thoughts on the match between the Brumbies and Waratahs development sides : Conditions were just about perfect for rugby, around 17 degrees with a few passing showers; little wind. Ground was in excellent condition. Quite a good crowd for a game of this nature. In the best tradition, it...

KOB I never thought you were criticising Valetini. The discussion was simply about which positions suited them best. We have different opinions, that's all. When I refer to Rennie, I do include the whole coaching staff. That wasn't clear though from my Posts. Anyway, we've done it to death and...

With respect to Purce, mixing it up will be a sure recipe for both to put in sub-par performances. They each need to have a defined role that they stick with whenever possible and not be getting in each other's way because they both want the ball in their hands at a crucial point. What...

I don't know why people think Harry can't play 6. That was his spot in the Aus U20s where he absolutely killed all comers. His style of play also, imo, suits 6 better than 8 where his ability to make ground through the centre is compromised (whereas it is a particular strength of Rob Valetini's)...

Bledisloe 2. Eden Park, 24th Sept 7.05pm NZT. 5.05 pm AEST, 3.05 WA

I don't see that that has any relevance to who fills the 6 and 8 spots when there is an option at 7, as Pete Samu is. But to answer you, I would honestly have to say Rob Leota at 7 as he is the best pilferer of the three. That would not make me change my mind about Harry being best suited to 6...

Agreed KOB but has Rob V's performance at the back of the scrum disappointed you in any way?

I'll be happy to see him have a good game, but for the life of me I do not understand how arguably the best No 8 in test rugby atm is displaced by a player who hasn't even featured in a run of recent test matches. If there is one Wallaby who should feel secure in his spot, it is Rob Valetini. I...

    Aussie Player Exodus

As Dct says, dilution of quality over a larger number of teams probably is a factor. But FLW (Fergus Lee-Warner) was always more than just average. He was consistently one of the best Force players and would not have been out of place at higher levels if selected. Interesting though if it is true that the team...

2022 Bledisloe Cup. Wallabies vs All Blacks

Bledisloe 2 is one match. Three by Aus A in Japan brings him up to four matches foregone. Does he just miss two on the EOYT, or give the tour a miss altogether and get a full pre-season in readiness for next year? The latter imo but only if that would count towards the games missed.

Australia A - Back on the Cards

I guess we'll see. Would have thought a good Queensland boy would be acceptable in the 13 spot? On the subject of good Queensland boys, where's Josh Flook? Is he injured and out of commission?

    Brumbies 2023

John Ulugia, now there's a blast from the past. And Robbie Coleman, the Prince of Queanbeyan. Robbie did put in a fair shift in the JID grand final. Looking forward to seeing Charlie Cale, Ben O'Donnell, Corey Toole, Jack Debreczini and Declan Meredith all starting their Brumbies careers.
