Perhaps even moreso if we go with a 5/3 bench. I still lament the dropping of Nick Frost though. He offers something different in our Locks and has been very good off the bench.

What? Drop Ala'alatoa altogether? I certainly wasn't advocating that.

I agree that our breakdown work was atrocious and Fraser suffered as a result. But did he earn any turnover ball at all? I don't recall but would be surprised if not. Otoh, Samu made a great pinch almost on the tryline later in the game.

KOB, I'm not sure there was an obvious lack of basic skills on show, but certainly ill-discipline combined with a poor game plan were very much to the fore. The game plan seemed to be to kick the ball on first, or at latest second, phase and way too many players gave away senseless penalties...

I can imagine the uproar that would have come from some Reds fans if TT was fit to play club rugby but overlooked for the Wallabies. Some would not se the merit in a graduated return to the top team.

Won't be too bad if Foketi comes in at 12. I still reckon the combination of Foketi with Ikitau has been our best in the centres this year. Foley to start at 10 if Noah misses out. Not impressive but a real step up from JOC (James O'Connor) and Hodge at 10. Wright did very good under the high ball when he moved...

Too many clean turnover wins to the Saffas at the breakdown and too many penalties by the Wallabies. Seems to be the plan to not contest the breakdown but stay aligned in defence. If so, I reckon it's not working. Also looked like the week was spent on lineout drills and everything else was...

Uru - good player and excellent for the Reds but a fair way down the list as far as Wallaby No 6 is concerned.

As well as in many minds of Wallaby fans here. Like an unwanted tenant you can't get rid of.

Complaining about team selections unduly being dominated by Brumbies, and now unfounded claims that the coaching staff is heavily loaded in favour of Brumbies coaches and Assistants is very much casting aspersions on Rennie as the head coach, whether or not it is couched in terms of transparency...

Faumasili? Is he available? Don't particularly rate him at test level, yet, but would likely give a better account than Tupou is atm. EDIT : I am obviously referring to the Wallabies. Certainly, the prop stocks at the Reds look a bit thin.

Rory just doesn't do it for me atm. I reckon we'd do better to stick with the locals who have performed so well in recent times. While Rory was active in some of the mauls, as soon as Swain entered he just tore the SA maul to pieces. I think the student has now overtaken the teacher in that...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rennie certainly is held in low esteem by many, especially those with Red eyes, to be apparently dictated to by his Assistant. Not does he just insist on playing most of the Brumbies but now he is setting up his own coaching regime. Rennie must be...

I hope you're right JB, but if he doesn't improve his scrummaging technique, he will continue to attract penalties from non-Australian referees. Right now he is a penalty liability and in very poor form otherwise.

Wallabies v Springboks - Adelaide Oval, Sat 27th August, 2022

Yep, have to say Noah bossed the game. Better than Pollard at game management, passing, kicking (in open play and off the tee), and better at running with the ball himself. That difference was where the game was won imo. As somebody who has expressed doubts about Noah's ability at 10, and lack...

Overhead shot showed Philip also packing high, almost under the prop's armpit.

Yes, Morgan was injured at the same time Tom Banks was out. I seem to recall Debreczini played 10 at SS level but I think he had a fair bit of time at 15 for the Rebels.

    Brumbies 2023

There is discussion on the match thread along the lines of posters wanting the Brumbies to play Tom Wright at 15 next year. With both Moggy and Jack Debreczini apparently in the mix, is there any real prospect of Tom moving there? I wouldn't have thought so. Tom is our best winger and there...
