    Brumbies 2023

I think it's tomorrow but could be next week.

    Brumbies 2023

Any news yet on the side to meet the Rebels this Thursday(?) EDIT : Pollard, Scott, Ryan Lonergan and Creighton are all in Japan with Aus A and at least will need to be replaced. Jack Kearns finished against the Waratahs with a dislocated ankle, broken fibula and torn syndesmosis.

Agreed. An impressive game from Gleeson. I don't know what the critics are wanting from him.

I'm not critiquing him against 21yo props, Froggy. To be the best or among the best at Wallaby level, he has to be able to scrum against all comers at test level. So far, he cannot do that. I have no doubt in time he will be able but right now he is behind both Slipper and Sio in my book simply...

Well, Bell needs a lot more development in scrummaging. It has always been his weak spot. While the others will definitely improve too with more time at Super level, I reckon McReight has well and truly proved he is capable at test level. It just took the coaches/selectors about 12 months to...

But look otherwise at the current French test side which is vying with Ireland for the world's top ranking. Many of the U20s that just pipped our side with all of those players. I think they are all old enough and experienced enough right now.

I really saw little in the way of raw talent or dominating ball carrying from Vunivalu. For most of the time he looked lost and all at sea. Very short on game awareness yet and some way off test match level.

Viking, you (and others) say that Nick Frost is still young, implying he is too young for test rugby. But he was in the same U20s side as Noah Lolesio, Fraser McReight, Harry Wilson, Angus Bell, Mark Naiwaqanitawase, and Lachlan Lonergan, maybe others. Are they also too young?

Australia A v Japan XV matches

An entertaining game and an unexpected win (to me at least). Best for Aus A imo were Gleeson (very busy in attack and defence and invariably made ground in contact), Ryan Lonergan (best long passing game of any of the Aus No 9s; perfect kicking from the tee), Donaldson (managed the second half...

Would it have been any longer away than any of Frost, Neville, Vunivalu?

Want to strengthen the front row? I offer you Fred Kaihua, Connal McInerney, Sefu Kaitua. :p :p:p

Presumably only by disengaging and then re-engaging at the back. Don't think I've ever seen that happen.

    Wallabies 2023

Can't have that sort of balanced viewpoint being expressed on GAGR BH. ;) Actually, too many Brumbies makes a change from too many Tahs. Seems it's the cross to bear by the side having most current success. I am a bit inclined to also say too many Brumbies, with the finger pointed...

Not having a shot at Jake, but that apparent lack of vision is a frequent failure of all of our No 9s. They do not appear to play heads up rugby, or are not getting the calls from the play makers as to which way to go in any given instance. Very frustrating when, as in this case, they send play...

    Waratahs 2023

Chris Davidson was a childhood friend of my sons and swam regularly in our backyard pool at Elanora Heights at around 4 years old.

    Wallabies 2023

That looks to be precisely the game plan the Wallabies had in every test match. Box kicks can be handy if the chase is good and the chaser actually competes for the ball and maybe sometimes wins it back. But our chasers rarely compete and we only regain possession if the opposition catcher...

    Wallabies 2023

I wonder how many of White's (and Gordon's and Tate's for that matter) misses are missed covering tackles where he has just failed to get to the man down the sideline? Our No 9s seem to have that role. And those stats can be skewed by the tackler being just fast enough to get a hand on the...

Dropping the ball cold in the process of scoring? OTOH, would Wright's two YCs be uh oh moments or positives as they immediately stopped tries being scored?

    Refereeing decisions

Wasn't watching closely but scrums were generally quick and tidy, not many resets. I am pretty sure there were no turnovers of possession due to protracted scrums, or lineouts or penalties. A couple of longish delays due to injury, but that was it.
