The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

Not according to the rugby heaven website which says the game starts at 10:35pm AEST.

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

Even the home SA games can be at annoying times. This Saturday's AEST 10:30 start for instance.

ARU wants to select who coaches

TOCC, I think you are missing Fatprop's point. You can play different styles of rugby but whatever style you choose to play the basics will stay the same. If all the Oz Super Rugby sides were taught the basics in the same way it would be better for the Wallabies as all players would be singing from the...

    Unsigned Club Players XV

9 Rech (2Blues) 10 Saifoloi (SD) - though not sure if he has played for one of the Islander countries 14 Nicky Price (SD) 15 Ben Volavola (SD)

Stuff the scrum coach. Let's get a bloody kicking and catching coach

Does anyone else remember when the Wallabies had an assistant coach by the name of (Ben?) Perkins. What was his specialty again? Recruited by Rod McQueen and dumped under Eddie Jones from memory..... think it was a cost cutting measure.

    Waratahs 2013

Only problem I can see with the appointment is it seems he is part of the 'old boys' netwrok, schooled at Kings, then to Sydney Uni, worked for a bank and then gets a job on the 'tahs board. That in itself is not a problem but when just about everone on the board has a similar background it...

    Wallabies Backup Scrum-half

Think it was about 2009. The point I was trying to make is that the reserve scrumhalf is unlikely to get any game time unless there is an injury to Genia. Having a player like Lucas, who has played at scrumhalf before (he can still train to play there) will enable 3 positions to be covered...

    Wallabies Backup Scrum-half

You take a punt at super rugby level not at test level. As I stated earlier the reserve halfback is unlikely to get a lot of game time unless injury occurs so we need to pick someone on the bench who can cover other positions. Ben Lucas appears to be the best bet as he has proven capable of...

    Wallabies Backup Scrum-half

At the moment I would go for Ben Lucas for the reasons you have stated. He is a good 10/15 who can play 9. Deans won't replace Genia unless absolutely necessary (IMHO) and the ability to cover the other positions gives the Wallabies greater bench flexibility. The other one who rarely seems to...

    The ranting at Deans/ARU/O'Neill/Players thread

that or "I wanted to show faith in the guys that did the job against Wales". Sorry I don't know how to translate into Deans-speak.

    The ranting at Deans/ARU/O'Neill/Players thread

I mentioned this on the live chat but as much as it pains me to say it, Deans was not entirely to blame for the loss tonight. I think we need to take a long hard look at the provincial coaches as all too often in Australian rugby our players get shown up due to an inability to perform basic...

    The ranting at Deans/ARU/O'Neill/Players thread

well? the all blacks never got out of second gear and still managed to bomb 3 genuine try scoring opportunities (at least).

    Waratahs 2013

Miller from Norths looked handy at the start of the year, haven't seen him for a while so not sure how he is going now. Played Oz schoolboys last year.

    Waratahs 2013

With those home games they'd be smart to move the Cheetahs game to Newcastle as they'll struggle to get any more than 15000 to the SFS and with the interest generated by the Wallaby test v Scotland this year may get 25000 plus to the game up there. But we are talking Waratah's management so...

    Sydney Shake Up

If this proposed restructure were to occur the Shute Shield competition should be reduced to two grades along with U21 and U19. That way you can limit the hoarding of players and cut down on expenses for the clubs.

Super rugby ground hire ring a bell? (allegedly)

Who will be the Argies first scalp?

When was the last time Australia won in Argentina? Think they are a chance of knocking us off at home.
  18. Aussie D

So, who here thinks Deans is the coach we need?

I voted against him on the basis that the 'player development' argument can easily be argued to have occurred at super rugby level and depth was always going to increase with the addition of more teams at said level. His bench use as stated above has been poorly managed and the Wallabies look to...

    Waratahs 2013

If the 'tahs have 3 or 4 seasons like 2012 in a row then there won't be a 'tahs team. Not witho0ut a complete ARU takeover. By about the third season Shute Shield crowd numbers would be challenging them.

    Waratahs 2013

Think my old primary school motto of 'deeds not words' would do nicely as they talk themselves up all the time and rarely deliver.
