RC - Wallabies vs Springboks, Gold Coast Sunday 12 September 8:05 PM

I thought Ikitau''s defence was outstanding and I can't see him swapped for Paisami. Hodge's brain explosion to put up a high ball (poorly) in the 78th minute is nearly enough for him to be replaced in 23 by JOC (James O'Connor). He's lucky that QC (Quade Cooper) stepped up in that clutch position to take the final penalty so...

I’ve been very critical with Paisami in the past and similar to Hodge he is limited in his unique way. I think Rennie sees this and he’s reluctant to truly lock down Paisami in a position.

The bloke isn’t even a star at Super level

This is an open question to any of Kiwi/ Saffer posters - has anyone seen Reece Hodge's name on a team sheet and ever been slightly concerned?

So now you're claiming that Hodge is a better outside centre than these guys (and this has to be your argument as its the only position where Paisami and Ikitau overlap).... What is this even based on? Hodge has played primarily 12 or 15 for his club side, and has hardly shown anything in the...

The obvious answer is that it’s one of the few positions where there’s a tiny bit of depth- it’s not the case at fullback, hooker etc.

Sam Greene was a legitimate talent - the guy could pass, kick, run and even had some x- factor - he was a real loss to Aussie rugby.

He has been generally been pretty ineffective every time he has played the All Blacks - it's really not that mystifying is it?

I like Cully - he's considered and genuinely seems to 'get' rugby - but he seems to change his opinion fortnightly.

Maybe Rennie sees Hodge at training everyday and doesn't think much of him as a flyhalf?

    Waratahs 2022

If he was running 10.5s - it would have been at school (pre- professional rugby bulk) and it also would have made him close to the quickest schoolboy in Australia - now I'm pretty sure he wasn't. Top speed also needs to put in context with acceleration btw.

I’m pretty confident he does not run that time.

    Waratahs 2022

I'd just prefer a high quality outside back rather than a hard-running winger who's not going to be fast or evasiveness enough to threaten - but appreciate the positive narrative of a backrow/ wing hybrid.

Let's give Loloesio a go against the second best team in the world - if he struggles again then we can crucify him.

Drew Mitchell nailed it on the weekend during commentary - Hodge is ball distributor not a ball player. He can pass the ball under structure and clear instructions but he's not identifying mismatches and seeing space- maybe that's enough for the Wallabies in 2021?

Some of the selections are debatable (Payne Haas in the second-row for an example) but there is absolutely no doubt that the likes of Mitchell, Trobjecvic and Munster are superior athletes and footballers to most of our guys - for what it's worth I reckon Jack Wighton would be an absolute...

    Wallabies 2021

As BH said I think that try was more a reflection of the talent of the ABs rather than poor decision-making on behalf of the Wallabies - they realised that McDermott was out of position and executed in a way that was pretty much impossible to defend. When's the last time the Wallabies have...

Underselling Hooper but everything else is spot on.

Yeah that was my point - if you can't pass to an adequate level by the time you're a professional (and he honestly can't) - it's too late.

Plenty of fly-halves don't put their body on the line every tackle - this is hardly a hanging offense.
