    Round 7: Hurricanes v Waratahs - Friday 5:30pm

I would also question Hegarty's inclusion, would have thought either Mason or Simone would have been preferable, however Gibson no doubt has his reasons. I like the run-on backline, could be the best we've got.

    Waratahs 2017

That's the beauty of having Foley at 10. He can break the line, the opposition have to counter that, and so can't slide straight to marking our centres. Simone is probably another who can break the line in time, if his NRC form is anything to go by, but he's not there yet.

    Round 6: Waratahs v Crusaders - Sunday 2 April 2017 4pm

The time has come for an Aussie team to stand up. So far this season everything has turned to shit, rusted on fans are depressed, less strongly attached fans are disappearing, the press are burying us, the opposition are mouthing things about tough opposition that you can see they don't believe...

    Round 6: Waratahs v Crusaders - Sunday 2 April 2017 4pm

Interesting Gibson is playing Kellaway on the wing and Clarke at FB, rather than the other way around.

    Round 6: Waratahs v Crusaders - Sunday 2 April 2017 4pm

All good by me, give the kid a crack, we've really got nothing to lose, with the other options known to be not up to it! Love the Mack the Knife thing by Nick on the main page!!!

    Round 6: Waratahs v Crusaders - Sunday 2 April 2017 4pm

Foley out, that makes this really tough (as if it wasn't already). Please not Hegarty, you know what they say about continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result! Possibly Horwitz, with Simone back in the centres, or one of the youngsters like Mason or Deegan.

    Waratahs 2017

One of Gordon's strengths is his kicking game. Be interesting to see what Gibson does next week, against his old team! Interesting how much more assured Phipps looked with Foley outside him (why do a variety of people here insist on calling him Phibbs, it's not that hard, particularly compared...

    Waratahs 2017

To support early comments about the importance of extensive skill practice, Brad Haddin commented last week that in his time in first class cricket (nearly 20 years) he had never seen a player spend as much time in the nets or hit as many balls as Steve Smith. For those who don't follow cricket...

Round 5: Rebels v Waratahs, Friday the 24th of March AAMI Park @7:40

I would consider Mumm, Holloway and Hanigan all lineout options. How many do you need?

Round 5: Rebels v Waratahs, Friday the 24th of March AAMI Park @7:40

Pretty happy with that. Simone gone altogether is tough, I would probably have had him on the bench. A bit of time late in the game outside Foley would help him develope to what I see as his huge potential. Interesting change to the centres, but I don't mind it. Those who want Folau at...

Round 5: Rebels v Waratahs, Friday the 24th of March AAMI Park @7:40

Gordon and Hanigan both need to start, and either Horwitz or Deegan at 10 if Foley is still not fit. Simone needs to go to the bench, Horne to 12, someone like Clarke or Jones to the wing. If Kepu isn't fit, Robertson to THP, Ryan to LHP. How far off is Ta'avao? Yes it's a lot of change, but...

    Waratahs 2017

I see absolutely no advantage in changing the coach 4 games in. At the end of the season sure, have a look and see where we are, what progress we've made, and whether a better alternative is available. Remember, Gibson hasn't fallen off a tackle, had a kick charged down, passed a ball behind...

Round 4: Waratahs v Brumbies- Saturday 18 March 7:45pm AEDT, Allianz Stadium, Sydney

BR, when talking about the lineout I was speaking of the starting pack, who I think won all their lineout ball and pinched three of the Brumbies (although more down to poor throws than good work by the Tahs forwards.) Once the B side came on, that all turned to shit!!

Round 4: Waratahs v Brumbies- Saturday 18 March 7:45pm AEDT, Allianz Stadium, Sydney

Really disappointing, this looks like being a loooong year!! So many players under-performing. In the backs, Hegarty not up to this level (at 10 anyway), Simone should be just coming on for 10 at the end, Robinson was invisible (except when he kicked to the opposition), and wtf has happened to...

    Waratahs 2017

I thought he got a fair bit better as the NRC went on, and then played okay in the trials. Haven't seen the SS trial you speak of. The trouble is, the only alternatives are Horwitz, who's really a centre, and Hegarty, who doesn't seem to be able to create anything at all for Simone and Folau...

    Waratahs 2017

I would stick with Simone for this week if Foley is fit. If not, I would play Deegan at 10 and Horne at 12. Gibson has made it clear he will stick to Folau at 13 for another three games, so no point speculating about that. He would be more involved at 13 witha 10 who can create that involvement...

Round 3: Sharks v Waratahs - Sunday 12 March 4:30am AEDT, Kings Park, Durban

I admit to not seeing the Sharks game, but against the Lions Simone positioned himself very poorly in defence on a number of occasions. I think he's a wonderful talent, but would probably prefer to see him coming off the bench at this stage. For all the Foley baggers, we are seeing how much we...

Round 3: Brumbies vs Force - GIO Stadium, 10 March @ 7:45pm AEDT

I don't have a problem with the rolling maul per se, just the reffing of the way it is prevented. It seems to me to be a real lottery, did a player pull it down or was he forced to the ground by the momentum of the maul, did a player enter from the side or did he enter from the gate but the...

Round 3: Sharks v Waratahs - Sunday 12 March 4:30am AEDT, Kings Park, Durban

The return of Skelton is critical, if not his place should be taken by McDulling, not Toleafoa. However, the big deal is defence, it must be 1000% better! 36 points should win you a rugby game any day, and the defence was poor from every angle, bad positioning, falling off tackles, and not...
