    Where to for Super Rugby?

No matter what endless (meaningless) arguments rage on GAGR re Foley v Cooper, Hooper v the world etc etc, I will continue to read GAGR for the latest missive from Dismal Pillock. I had to let someone go a few months ago, if only DP's quote had come in time!!

    The Wallabies Thread

Don't necessarily disagree BR, however I don't see an obvious alternative HC right now. Would be happy to have MC back at the Tahs right now, despite possible shortcomings in strategy, we would love to see the culture that existed in the side prior to his departure re-installed!

    The Wallabies Thread

It's simple really, being captain isn't about being the best player. I'm not suggesting Coleman isn't a captain, but while I am comfortable to be, along with everyone else here, suggesting my best team, picking a captain is about a hell of a lot different to what we see on television. Some...

    Waratahs 2018

QH, I agree with all the suggestions you are making regarding a coaching plan, and your criticism of the 'watching the final' thing would be valid if that was all Gibson was going to do, however that's never been suggested, and I really don't think looking at the best and saying 'that's where we...

    Waratahs 2018

QH I'm just as disgusted with what we've seen from the Tahs this year as anyone else, but it seems whatever anyone in the organisation says now is going to be ridiculed. Look, like it or not (I don't like it much but don't see any alternative) Gibson is going to be coach next year, and I don't...

    Waratahs 2018

I have to say the anti-Tahs bitterness of the likes of MST, and their delight in kicking a team when they're down, just makes it all the sweeter when the boot's on the other foot. The Tahs have been 8 times in the Super finals series, and won one, which compares with teams like the Hurricanes...

    Waratahs 2018

I couldn't disagree more MST. Firstly, the Tahs didn't win in his first season, but his second, and were finalists in the third. He also didn't win the cup with Leinster in year one, but again built to it. As to who he brought with him, when he came to the Tahs he brought Grey and Gibson, so...

    Waratahs 2018

Well, there's something rotten in the state of Denmark, to go all Shakespearian. The current side just doesn't have the desire, the commitment to give every last ounce plus some to win for each other. To me, Fitzpatrick, Hanigan, Hooper, Phipps and Foley (possibly Kellaway but he really hasn't...

Force Vs Waratahs, Round 17 - Saturday 15th July, NIB Stadium

Well done the Force, wanted it, deserved it and got it. If the Force go, which I think they will, there can be no question it is the wrong decision. The Tahs (who I will continue to support, please don't ask me why as I have no f...ing idea) were woeful, uninterested, worst Tahs side ever!

Waratahs v Jaguares, Round 16 - Saturday 8 July, Allianz Stadium

Looking at individuals, we have problems aplenty. Mumm and Horne won't be missed, they've lost their enthusiasm for the game. Ryan, McDulling, Wells, Toleafoa, Ta'avao, R Robinson and Hegarty are just not up to Super rugby standard. But the most disappointing thing is that a range of exciting...

Waratahs v Jaguares, Round 16 - Saturday 8 July, Allianz Stadium

This is looking like the worst Tahs side I have ever seen! Looking at this game a bit analytically, rather than just saying 'everything was shit (which would be justified)' the main things that stuck out for me were: * Defence close to the breakdown was non-existent * Defence was passive, no...

    What position did/do you play?

In primary school and early high school a bit of wing, then breakaway pretty much for the rest of my career, through high school and a number of country clubs. Too small for the rest of the forwards, too slow for the outside backs, not clever enough for the inside backs. Was fit and could...

    Waratahs 2017

Staniforth has genuine potential. McDulling is a journeyman, bench prospect at best, Toleafoa looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane, haven't seen enough of McCauley to comment. Looks like Ned will be shifting back to lock. By the way FP, why not Holloway to lock, I believe he has played a fair bit...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

I think the problem here is not the signing of marquee players per se, but the fact that of those we have, four of them play at 10. As a result of that (and Lance's injury) we only have two eligible no 10s playing regular super rugby in Aus. Having said that, I'm not sure what the solution is!:(...

GAGR Wallaby player of the year: v Italy

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

I come away very concerned about LHP. They were supposed to be our best two, and both, but particularly Smith, got absolutely belted. Also, Genia is way past his best, I wish Powell was getting more time. How long is Phipps out? Another issue of the last two games, it's 80 minutes not just of...

Australia v Scotland, 3:00pm 17 June Sydney Football Stadium

My only comment is 3pm Saturday arvo at Moore Park, as good as it gets!! Me and a whole bunch of mates from all over the bush are coming down, lunch at a pub in Paddo then walk down, back to Paddo after the game, now THAT'S what test rugby is all about!!

    Waratahs 2018

I have no idea whether Gibson is interested or not, but with Skelton & Mumm both gone next year, McDulling at best a bench option and Toleafoa a dud, we need locks from somewhere.

    The Wallabies Thread

Robertson has been sound at LHP this year, not dominated or been dominated. Worth noting he has the Tahs second highest tackle count after Hooper. Sio is certainly better, but currently I rate him number 2.

Wallabies v Fiji, 3pm Sat 10th June, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Well Barbarian, you were watching a different match to me. I saw a second tier rugby nation, many of whose top players weren't released from their European clubs, after the first 20 minutes make massive inroads through the defence of supposedly the number 3 nation. This was very reminiscent of...
