Experimental Laws to Promote Try-scoring Rugby in new NRC

The issue I have is that it is a very, very thin line between great defence and infringing. We all know that we can look at the same play from a R. McCaw or a George Smith or an S. Burger and some will see it as a brilliant defensive effort and other will swear black and blue that it was a clear...

Why? I don't mind it at all.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

Well at least I've provided examples. Where are yours? And most of the time it IS working fine. I don't know why you want to limit the communication between them. To me, the on-field ref is the 'head ref' so to speak so it's on him to use his assistants as he chooses.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

'Quickly' is a pretty subjective term. They're quick enough for me. And I have no issue watching a no.8 keep the ball at his feet. To me, the scrum is actually a phase of play, once the ball is in, play has actually re-started. To say that it hasn't seriously degrades the massive effort and wirk...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Yeah maybe.....I think though that after the Memorandum of Understanding is signed, finalising the contract is seen as a bit of a formality so I think it's still big. That's how I think it works anyway...

Honestly - this happens less frequently than push-over tries do :)

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

From what I read, the contract hadn't actually been finalised. I think a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed but the Bulldogs have basically said that they couldn't come to term of agreement over some of the finer details.

    Refereeing decisions

I really don't see what the issue is. The only strange one I have seen is the Moala try last week where the TMO pretty much said 'No Try' and the Argie guy gave it anyway. Which cost him afterwards. I like the on-field ref having the final say - they have the TMO there for assistance and...

    Sharks v Tahs, round 7 2014

First time I've seen that 'tackle'....disgraceful. He could even see that the pass was long gone. Should definitely be a few weeks in the stands. Pretty similar to a horse-collar tackle in NFL which is also banned.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

What would be lost?! Real scrums! Watching that Brumby scrum on Fri nite was a thing of beauty. The way the Rebels scrum fell apart against them was something that sets rugby apart from every other game on the planet.

    Refereeing decisions

I don't think it matters at all if the ball clears the line. If the kicker is in-goal it's a scrum. It's almost as if the kicker himself put the ball out - a charge-down doesn't really count as the opposition 'touching' the ball. just like you can charge a kick-down, have it go forward, regather...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

In the NZ Herald article, it stated that the ball is in play for approx 30min each game. It was asking if scrums were taking to long and that's why this peron who 'codes' the games replied.

Experimental Laws to Promote Try-scoring Rugby in new NRC

Honestly, this stuff gives me the shits. How do the laws of the game stop any team from playing 'try-scoring' if that's what they actually want to play? Here's an idea: if you want to promote try-scoring rugby, develp the skills of the players and give them the game plan to do it. As BH...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

I reckon most would go with 12 SBWs and a Cam Smith. The problem is you'd only have them for 2yrs max before you need to replace 12 players :)

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

Again - a push-over try would most likely have been scored if the Rebels hadn't purposely infringed so who cares? There really aren't THAT many re-set scrums. Here's a comment that was made on an article on this subject in the NZ Herald: Anyone else in GAGR who codes the games who can add...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

It doesn't matter if an individual player wasn't awarded a try. All that matters is that as a direct result of their scrum, they were awarded a try. I honestly wonder why you guys even follow rugby when you don't seem to like the rules or how it's played.

You must not have seen the Brumbies/Rebels game on Fri then? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

Ridiculous. A good example was in the Blues game where the ref (Walsh I think) wanted an opinion on the Piutau try. TMO came back and said there hadn't been any issue re: double movement but he was trying to find footage of if the ball was grounded over the line. Walsh came back and said he was...
