    Round 10: Brumbies v Hurricanes Sat 27th 2.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

Sensational victory for the Brumbies against the best team in the comp.

It's also really easy to mute or block pretty much all the "click-bait" controversy merchants so you never have to read their stufg

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

As far as I can tell (and happy to be corrected here) the Rebel's PAYG argument appears to be.... Players are in a tri-party contract. Even though RA gave the Rebels money to pay the taxes for Wallaby duty, the ATO never received any payment. And RA remains liable for it, even though the...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Isnt that what the whole PAYG claim is about? RA transfers the $$$ for top-ups to the Rebel's for distributions to the players. RA says it includes enough for PAYG taxes, Rebels just spent all the money given to them without sending any to the ATO

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

With noting that the Administrator listed the "player salaries" for the last 3 years to be between $7.2m and $7.5m for each year. No mention as to taxes on these, or who it was spent on (women, RA top-ups?)

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I wouldn't have thought that is something a CEO or even a chair can decide on their own. At the minimum a board meeting required to consider the administrator's report, and if it ends up being a loss of a Super Rugby team, then it's probably a full General Meeting with voting member voting required

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

It's not explicitly stated in the document who it is other than this But it does seem very likely given the other reporting around this

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I hadn't realised Leigh Clifford, who is leading this Investment Group is the father of Georgia Widdup, Melbourne Rebels Director The proposed DOCA lists the current board of directors And in section 11 of the deed....... If the deed is agreed to, the current directors would return to that role

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Looks pretty promisiing. Is the Investor Group the Tarneit consortium? And it sounds like there is a pretty big caveat there - if the "Proponents are unable to satsify the obligation......". Before this happens, the debt has to be resolved? (I guess by Tarneit?)

    Super Rugby General Chat

You'd have to suspect the salary Super Rugby is offering for the CEO isn't going to be attracting the best and brightest
  15. Strewthcobber

    Queensland Reds 2024

He's the ideal #23 for any team. Again, probably not what he wanted out of a career though

    Australian Rugby / RA

In the interests of the discussion, I don't think the board is the problem anyway, and an approach like the above would probably fall foul of ASC requirements for independence and Olympic funding. What should happen is constitutional change in the voting membership. Ditch the Super Rugby teams

    Australian Rugby / RA

But more flesh on the bones of Ross Tulloch's board spill proposal https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/04/23/definition-of-madness-rugby-reform-must-start-with-total-cleanout-of-ra-board-and-this-should-happen-next/ Seems completely fanciful for a 6 person interim board to achieve what he is...

Thank goodness we haven't just appointed the Rebel's lineout coach to the Wallabies!

    League Targets

Don't we normally get the league props that are getting too big before they turn pro and shift them into the second row in our game (and then off to France)
