Wallabies v Wales, Principality Stadium, Sun 27th November, 2.15am AEST

Some funny comments on our maul. Don't have figures but my observation is that, on this EOYT, we have been defending opposition mauls more frequently than setting our own. They are an integral part of all teams' game plans and the Wallabies are among the most successful teams in defending them...

Hey Wamb, it's unlikely any 7s players would immediately ascend to the Wallabies without a couple of years at Super. Any different for a coach?

I'd definitely start Campbell so either Petaia or Hodge on the bench. Hodge covers more spots so my preference would be 12 Ikitau, 13 Petaia.

And you think a rookie with barely half a season of Super rugby behind him can? Pete Samu doesn't hit it up hard like Valetini but is one of the very few Wallaby forwards who consistently makes ground in contact and has the ability to break the line. Give me someone I know over a promising but...

Yeah, I agree on Hodge. I am also positive about Jordan Petaia now hopefully realising his potential. Would be an excellent 13/wing cover from the bench, or replacement 13 in case of injury at 12 or 13.

Thanks Reg. That's a pretty mean looking team.

Maybe it's time LC for the team to move away from the crash baller in the midfield and try some creativity and imagination? I just cannot see any argument for including a debutant from out of left field (Kuenzle or Henry) or a run of the mill Super level player (Stewart) for such an important...

And yet he starts at 8 with Rob V at 6 for the Brumbies and that was under MacKellar. Not like he hasn't got any experience or form there. And he's a proven test match player, unlike Gleeson who is a package of potential atm nothing more. This game is now just too important, I believe, to muck...

Wallabies v Wales, Principality Stadium, Sun 27th November, 2.15am AEST

This is now the "must win" game. Two wins and two close results with the sides ranked 1 and 2 will be a pass, but still not what it could have been with a fractionally stronger side against Italy. A loss to Wales will be a real spoiler. Therefore, I reckon Rennie et al will go conservative in...

Ikitau at 12 with his left boot coming more into the game looks pretty good to me.

Decisive might be over-egging it a bit perhaps. Weren't they both early in the game and how many points did we score from them?

Just the point I was making LC, isn't it up to Laurie Fisher if indeed he is responsible for the breakdown as most of us think? Why would sub-standard performance in an area he is not responsible for put Dan MacKellar's position in doubt? And you might add Porecki (most penalised and most...

Doritas Day : With so many first-rated players not available or injured this EOYT, I assume you consider the current sides being put out as consisting largely of next tier level players. Is this so? But, nevertheless, they have run both the 1st and 2nd rated rugby sides in WR (World Rugby) to a very close...

An interesting take on Dan, Slim. Although a very favoured one on these threads I'm afraid, The Wallabies presently have the following Forwards coming out of recent Brumbies Super Rugby sides. Slipper, Fainga'a, Ala'alatoa, Frost, Neville, Swain, Valetini, and Samu. And potentially Scott Sio. All good...

Of those three, McKellar would currently be the best, Thorn would be the most able to shake things up in the short term, and Coleman will probably be the best in a few years time. Maybe you're on to something with Thorn. He wouldn't baulk at standing down players who didn't follow instructions...

    GAGR POTY v Ireland

    3. Slipper 2. Ala'alatoa 1. Frost Nawaqanitawase had an excellent introduction to a full test match, but none of the backs were instrumental in keeping the Wallabies in the game with a chance to win at the end.

Your opinion only ROD. I reckon he (Pearce) showed plenty of dash in his games. Are we actually missing the light on his feet, light on the scales Lachlan Lonergan type hooker at senior levels, or the big brute, belligerent but talented hooker like Malcolm Marx?

Can we please add Gordon - ill discipline? And of course, both Foley and Skelton will be missing too.

Some quick observations. 1. Time to put the Porecki love in a drawer and lock it away. Cost the initial try that could have set the game up for a win. Overthrew the next lineout. Then penalised for neck roll which gave away three points. After all that, pinged for hands in the ruck. All within...

Can't say I noticed Alcock, but very pleased to see Marley Pearce from WA in the squad. I thought he was the pick of all the hookers.
