Wallabies 2023 World Cup Positivity Thread

Moggy?. I don't think so. Too many Brumbies ;) OTOH, I think Vunivalu has missed the train and CFS would be a long shot. Pulu over the hill.

I firmly believe we are better off with the devil we know. Rennie's results have been disappointing over the past year or so, but I don't think he has been disappointing on a personal level. He has been in charge in a very trying period, and the side is now showing good signs about the direction...

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) 2023 General Chat

I hope RA isn't doing a deal for marginal increase in revenue share with an offset to increase NZRU share in Lions and RWC years. We need to be wary of making deals out to 2030 when we have those big revenue years in the meantime.

I still reckon that Bishop has an axe to grind and some of his observations really dont fit his narrative of too many Brumbies in the pack. He suggests others (mostly Tahs) should come in but some of those he mentions are 6s and 7s and would take the spots of Tahs' players already in the team...

    Wallabies 2023

I agree those could have been outcomes, but they weren't. It was a tactical decision to waste time and get the Welsh off guard and it worked. Just a clarification too for some of our co-posters on this thread. During the whole of that series of scrums/penalties etc, Tom Wright was playing NO...

    Wallabies 2023

His take on the scrum penalties, focusing on the three or four scrums on our tryline just on half time was very disingenuous. Every one of those scrum infringements was deliberate with the intent of running the clock down and it worked perfectly. The evidence is in the next scrum after the...

My picks shown in bold. I've left Fainga'a there because I've included 5 overseas players already and I think that will be/should be the limit. I've put in three smokeys from the Brumbies in Hooper, Lonergan and Debreczini. But that's my bias - you can all have a go at it to your hearts'...

You quite clearly watch the same games I do, Michael.

I still don't get the admiration here for Rodda. Right now we have a very strong contingent of locks, both here in Neville, Frost, Swain and Philip, and also those playing overseas, Skelton and Arnold possibly x 2. Rodda had a very ordinary start to this year's Super, followed by an extended...

McDermott had really good energy and showed more enterprise than Jake Gordon when he (Tate) came off the bench. But he has a couple or three areas he still needs to improve before he can claim to be test match level. Apart from his sometimes wayward passing, he has to improve his box kicking...

    3. Nawaqanitawase 2. Samu (took the game by the scruff of the neck when he came on - best of the bench) 1. Ikitau

Just further on the No 10s. There was an analysis recently, on the Roar I think, that points to Rennie's game plan being to use forwards, fullback and No 12 as first receiver on attack. I think that was more in evidence while Donaldson was on the ground. Noah seemed to get more touches but...

Just my observation, but Noah seemed to have a lot more touches than Ben. Also had a hand in a couple of those late tries.

There is no doubt that there are some very high quality players overseas, but even this year the Giteau Rule has indicated that we need to be very selective when considering players for our home tests, TRC etc. European based players were either generally not up to scratch due to insufficient...

I thought Campbell and Lolesio would both start, but can accept the reasons given for them being passed over. But here's my tip for the backline at the end of the game: 9 McDermott, 10 Hodge, 11 Gordon, 12 Ikitau, 13 Wright, 14 Nawaqanitawase, 15 Campbell. Donaldson HIA, Petaia Achilles. Noah...

I would have preferred Campbell at 15, mainly because it's hard to put your confidence in Tom at the back, but I take Slim's comment about that back three last week. If they reproduce that form, then the combination could be a winner. Gordon over Tate, I do not understand. The backrow also has...

Does anyone have any insights into how the Aussie Super Rugby teams fared with injuries last year (ie 2022)? How many attributable to training or S&C aspects? Can't recall if the Brumbies suffered those types of injuries and it seems to me that the Brumbies players with the Wallabies have by and large...

    Waratahs 2023

FP, grandmother and sucking eggs etc, but I don’t expect the Brumbies to have prop problems worse than any others with Kaitau and Kaihea backing up Slipper and Ala'alatoa. But wrong discussion on this thread.

I also think that Thorn's coaching might be getting a bit stale. While I don't think they'll be at the bottom, I do think they'll regress from the past couple of years. Incidentally, Brumbies have 17 Wallabies on their books next year (and some no-names).
