    Rugby News from unexpected places

Warringah Rats former sponsor was Sri Lankan and for a while at least there was a relationship between Warringah and Sri Lankan rugby. IIRC The Rats went on at least one tour there.

    The Israel Folau saga

But there's no need to imagine though what Qantas thought. A Qantas spokesperson told foxsports.com.au that “as a sponsor of Rugby Australia, we’re supportive of their approach towards tolerance and inclusion, which aligns with our own. “We’ve made it clear to Rugby Australia that we find the...

A Qantas spokesperson told foxsports.com.au that “as a sponsor of Rugby Australia, we’re supportive of their approach towards tolerance and inclusion, which aligns with our own. “We’ve made it clear to Rugby Australia that we find the comments very disappointing.”...

Because nobody here or anywhere else has said it. But it's a nice straw man to set up and knockdown though.

    The Israel Folau saga

The Chairman of Qantas is a union-busting employer who has form for sacking thousands of his own employees. It would be no surprise for him to advocate the immediate sacking of anyone.

We'll see how it pans out. I've refrained from being too critical of RA as I think that they were/are in a tricky situation. I just think they could have been more prudent in how they dealt with things. Possibly it would have been wiser to allow him to attend Waratahs training and use that...

The intention to terminate contract was announced 24 hours after the incident first blew up. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/rugby-australia-set-to-sack-israel-folau-for-anti-gay-social-media-post-20190411-p51dar.html

Once they announced that they would sack him, the smartest thing for him to is to choose not to speak to them. He seems better advised than they were.

But you see, he's contractually bound to attend training so by banning him from training they removed the simplest way of being able to speak to him.

    The Israel Folau saga

You forgot Ralene saying she wanted to terminate his contract before speaking to him. And the Waratahs standing him down from training before speaking to him. And then a parade of players conducting what appear to be RA sanctioned interviews all giving their two bobs worth. Very strange...

That's a very confused form of logic. Luckily we don't have journalists running the court system.

RA wouldn't care. They don't particularly care about the punters in the crowd, they care far more about upsetting QANTAS.

    The Israel Folau saga

I haven't shifted any goal posts, you've just decided for your own purposes to deliberately misrepresent what I observed. It's not an infringement of free speech to say that the CEO and the Chairman are the authorised official spokespeople. I never implied that people should be punished for...
