    Shute Shield 2014

Would love to see the Rams resurface. They have 4 clubs to feed them and Eastwood is about to see the construction commence for the $25 million centre of excellence - you'd imgaine games would attract punters at Concord, St Marys ( for example) Parra stadium and Eastwood. I just dont know why...

i really dont want to Uni-bash but seriously - if they are accepted as a team it will create some veryt heated rivalries, for example, every other club vs Uni...

    Shute Shield 2014

The clubs behind the North Harbour team have openly declared their support of the NRC and have worked out that an alliance is what the ARU wants. If at least 1/3 of the comp sees value in the NRC at this early stage) then you'd think the rest will as well. I read that the Wicks are putting...

Isnt St George leagues club almost broke? I must say these gigantic, cavernous pokie palaces are a blight on society and are really not meant to be what they once represented. But like the Vikings club in the ACT, its its done well, clubs can prosper from it.

Ozzie Bob - can you please reduce the mungo-ness of your photo! I'll give you one of my old Bobs jerseys to wear. I guess the Tiges are about to go bankrupt anyway so perhaps your jersey might be worth something. Rumour has it Newport has a new President. Never met him but hates a beer apparently.

Yeah the whole HSBC sponsorship thing is an odd one. As noted above HSBC said they were looking at sponsoring more global events – Wayne Smith in the Australian said last week that HSBC was to be announced as the Australian naming sponsor of Super Rugby - this would be announced as such last...

    Shute Shield 2014

Gordon issued a press release today stating that they will form part of a 4 club club, North Harbour NRC team - very smart and a good sign that most shute shield clubs will do the same. Uni obviously won't but hey, they're uni....

I’m not exactly sure why people are seeing the creation of the 3rd tier as some sort of death-nell for club rugby – In my opinion Club Rugby will only get stronger as a result. Main points The club season will remain as is. It will start a bit earlier that previously which will present some...

Cat - A - The premier clubs have had a long time to validate their existence and in most cases have failed. So you think because the premier clubs are agains the idea, its a bad one? What do the schools, subbies and junior clubs think about it. What do the Wallabies and Super Rugby clubs think...

It also means that those clubs who have a lot of annual cashflow can potentially divert funds to cheaper subs, coaches, trainers and any other non-monetary inducement for players to turn up for them each year.

    Sydney Subbies 2014

From what I understand there is a Melbourne suburban AFL comp called the Ammos – short for the Amateurs and like subbies rugby in Sydney, its a comp made up of a lot of old boys, sub-district, university and social clubs ( read Briars and Colleagues) who play the game for what it is without...

Gordon just released their annual report. It was great to see another Shute Shield club post a profit this year, especially after the turmoil that Gordon has been through in the last year. Profit $114k on a $500 revenue. Debt reduced from $1.3 mil to $860k 2014 – the year of the Stag!

Yeah I was wondering which SS clubs have grounds that don’t double as cricket grounds. Parramatta Souths Penrith? Warringah West Harbour Eastwood. I guess they’ll need to host the first round but possibly the first few until the other clubs are granted access to their grounds. Not ideal. I...

8 teams for me. West Sydney Rams is a must. They could potentially play out of St Mary’s, TG Milner and Parra Stadium. Sydney North Sydney Fleet Canberra Melbourne Perth - I think the Perth team in the ARC has a great jersey which represented the history of the team there. North Bris South...
