    Refereeing decisions

One interpretation I would love to see changed, when defender's offside line is the try line refs all of sudden take an incredibly strict view of the offside. It's just about impossible to legally have hands and feet behind the line, and also defend those close-in charges. When goal line stands...

    Wallabies 2024

Where McReight needs to improve to be world class like Hooper is his dominant tackling. Good teams in the past run at McReight to take him out of the breakdown contest. When they tried this with Hooper, his dominant tackles meant this didn't work

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

This bit is wrong. The two hurdles are self-imposed by the directors and can be waived by those directors. They don't want to have to commit to all the payments until their personal liability is waived and they have the licence back.

    Round 11 Chiefs V Force

We are going all over the place dates wise here, but at one time it didn't even need to be a dropkick. You could do a place kick, but the opposition could charge it as soon as it hit the ground. There used to be a holder like NFL for these kicks

    Round 11 Chiefs V Force

If you go back far enough, you could make your mark and get a free kick whenever you caught the ball from the opposition, intercepts, knock-ons etc it didn't need to be a kick.

The former, almost certainly. Maybe not with the ATO. Given the history of not meeting previous payment plans they may not be very keen. The directors also now have this additional issue to worry about moving forward.

    Round 11 - Waratahs v Hurricanes - Friday 5:30pm

Got the 7 for not being bound as the 8 passed it back for that one I think.

    Round 11 - Waratahs v Hurricanes - Friday 5:30pm

I've always wondered why no-one has thought of a better way to record stats. When there's a choice of penalties like that, the high tackler just doesn't get the penalty recorded against them in the stats right?

It's actually entirely up to the director's from here. They have committed to re-capitalising and operating the Rebels for two years based on their own set conditions. They can still do that if either ATO or RA don't come to the party by waiving the condition.

The DOCA says the consortium has 7 days to pay an initial contribution, which is the 15% + paying the administrator. Guestimate - that is $3m. They then need to pay the outstanding employee dues in a month or so - another $1.5m ish

2024 Under 20 Rugby Champs all match discussion thread

The difference between a 1.88m, 108kg rugby league second rower and a 1.88m, 118kg union prop is just the right diet, the right coach and 3 years of sticking your head in strange places

I quite enjoyed the Tokyo RWC final

Unfortunately, I don't think much of anything will be resolved today, other than if there is a vote for liquidation. There are still any number of potential hurdles ahead. I just can't see how a court case is avoided one way or another

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Correct. The participation license needs to either be given back to them by RA, or a court has to direct RA to give it back

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

If the DOCA goes through that means the ATO has released the Directors from their DPNs, so face no personal liability from the ATO, and only a liquidator can move forward with a claim of trading while insolvent, so they would not face any personal liability from that either. The Directors would...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Just for clarity - there could be legal action against RA whether the DOCA is agreed to or not. If it's not, then the liquidator has the option to pursue it if they think they are likely to get money out of it (although they wouldn't be funded) The directors are much more likely to face legal...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

More info on the process. To pass the DOCA they will need a majority of creditors to vote for it on a one vote per listed creditor basis, as well as the votes of a majority of the value of debt (so basically the ATO). Related entities are entitled to vote, so the Rebel's directors and their...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

It's probably wishful thinking, but could RA intending to run the Rebels themselves in the future, under a centralised model, and are voting against the DoCA to remove the Rebels directors and the debt they would then be personally liable for from the equation?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Had a proper read this evening. RA provided $450,000 to the administrator to keep the lights on through the early part of 2024, and to make sure the administrators could pay players etc before RA fully took over employment of the staff and players. They are creditors as a result of this...
