    Aussie Player Exodus

Do we know how many players are on a RA top-up? If Ben Donaldson made the cut this year, my assumption is there must be quite a few

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

RA have said they are a creditor, and are listed as having attended meetings of creditors by the Administrator. I don't think we know how much or what for. Would covering the Rebel's coaches and player's salaries this year make them creditors?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Not sure about that - if you are talking about the Age. The editorial is pretty much all opinion (as it should be - that's what an editorial is) Not sure this is exactly "neutral language' given the existing positions held by some in the consortium, and the personal liabilities they currently...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I can't help but think RA would be a lot more keen on the "consortium" if the spokesperson wasn't one of the former directors, and her father leading. As an aside, they got a pretty favourable editorial in the Age yesterday as well.

Is Hunter P really a top-tier salary? I would have thought he'd be on whatever fringe Wallaby/squad members are on. I don't think you could say he would definitely be selected for the Wallabies this year, let alone in 2026, which is what you would be paying for. Probably why he's looking OS

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

This is the thing isn't it. ATO holds 50% of the claims If ATO votes to accept the DOCA and provide a release to the Directors in relation to their DPNs they get 15c to 30c in the $ or If ATO votes to reject they continue to chase the Directors for their personal liability. What's the chance...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

They only list the top 10 creditors, most of whom are either Directors or entities controlled by directors There are 35 employees (players) and 100 others who are listed as creditors, which probably includes RA as they are listed as having attended meetings of creditors

    Waratahs 2024

The financial statement literally has all of this information. There is no debt. Go to the NSWRU website and you can look at the accounts for the last decade (same as RA, Reds, and Brumbies). edit - it's actually since 2010 This is in contrast with the big issue with VRU and Rebels who didn't...

    Waratahs 2024

It's not really that much of achievement. Nobody would lend to them. They don't have any collateral

    Waratahs 2024

They list the grants elsewhere so don't think it's that. They also had $3m in that line item in the 2019 report - so something else

    Waratahs 2024

It does show that the Tahs transfer to RA wasn't quite a bailout, and NSWRU will probably still be in the black overall this year, but they sure aren't in a very healthy financial state and if they hadn't done the transfer they probably would have needed a bailout this year.

    Waratahs 2024

Seems like most of it is from a big loss of revenue from "courses and other revenue" (-$3m) whatever that is, and down $1m on stadium rebates As well as an extra spend of $1.4m on pro rugby, and around $1m extra on corporate and community rugby

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I believe these days each member negotiates their own internal deal, and SANZAAR negotiates all other deals (eg with UK & Europe) Again, only my understanding here, but RA distribute more to the Super Rugby sides than the Super Rugby comp broadcast generates in isolation, but that recognizes that the Super Rugby sides...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The other side of this - many of our players have dual or multiple eleigibilities. One of the reasons they play pro here is the large salary available if you make it to Wallaby level. If we can't offer that, plenty of players will follow the Mack Hansen model and leave before they are even a...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Super Rugby TV revenue is a pretty small part of the overall pie in the scheme of things. SANZAAR tests (including Bledisloes) and the June/July inbound NH tours make up the bulk of our TV revenue, or at least they did when we last saw any detail of this kind of thing

It's not as many as you'd think. Bleds are protected, but almost all other away games are not

    Australian Rugby / RA

I don't disagree with your Waratahs development point. But, given the salary cap and how Super Rugby contracts work it's not the Tahs who are overpaying Kellaway, Su'ualli and Jorgensen right? They would be getting paid the same amount by whichever Super Rugby team they played for - it's RA and high net worth...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Agree with this. Most of it is just peolpe who grew up or live in really nice, expensive areas of Sydney want to be paid to play rugby and continue to live in nice, expensive areas of Sydney, and if you are an outside back/playmaker who could play league then you can demand a higher price tag...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Depends what you mean by "big signing" I guess? Su'ualli signed up in March 2023, just after TT/Rebels was announced. Nick White/Force was announced after that. Just looking at the 2024 Brumbies squad announcement..... Allan Ala'alatoa, Blake Schoupp, Len Ikitau, Tom Wright, James Slipper...
