    Refereeing decisions

The danger will be refs not pushing or enforcing time wasting at the reset if the players aren't actually wasting any time

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I really don't understand how you can afford to run a professional sports team with these sort of crowd figures This remains the big risk for me. It relies on someone continuing to fund the team to the tune of $5m a year (based on the current accounts - which run at $14m expenses, and $9m...

    Waratahs 2025

I think he just subscribes to the old "get the press to focus their attention on my crazy antics" method of coaching, taking the pressure off his players

    Waratahs 2025

Other than win Shute Shield, win the Celtic League, win the Heineken Cup, win Super Rugby, make a WC final, and win in NZ with Argentina, what has he ever done for us?

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

Neither of the trips was him defending on the wing though. They were both covering tackles because the Drua had split the Red's defense right up the middle. I think he just doesn't trust his hammies when getting stepped front on and having to change direction quickly. He gets in horrible...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I'm plucking some of the less positive bits out of the article here, but there has to be at least some amber flags around this......

    Waratahs 2025

Pretty conspicuous in his absence in any real discussion of the options

The magnitudes not quite the same, but each of our Super Rugby teams would be getting "more" because of the PacificAus sports program government funding of Fiji Drua. We don't share with them the extra broadcast revenue that their existence allows.

    Waratahs 2025

Well then, we should shortly see if RA or NSWRU have learnt anything at all.....

    Wallabies 2024

It's the elephant in the room isn't it? The number of Achilles injuries to our big players suggests something is systematically wrong with how they are training at the moment

    Australian Rugby / RA

There are a lot more private school kids ending up at elite levels in cricket than there used to be, so they must have worked something out. (eg recent captain of Australia U19 cricket team went to BGS). A lot of it is the differences in the sport - you can play multiple games of cricket in a...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Yeah that's what I thought. The causation is the other way around. The kids that can afford to be good at cricket can also afford to go to private school, but they are actually getting good by playing grade cricket. 17-year-old rugby players on a GPS scholarship aren't also playing club games...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Is that really true? Eg the highest rated young cricketer is Queensland is a kid named Steve Hogan. He goes to a private school but is still playing cricket for his club Sandgate-Redcliffe, and going to age group national championships etc. That's pretty typical. Development happening both at...

    Australian Rugby / RA

At the end of the day, you can probably measure the health of any sport by how many volunteers they have willing to run/promote/coach/fundraise etc the local clubs. All a governing body can really do is make that as easy as possible.

    Australian Rugby / RA

RA's isn't spending its limited money on private schools. It's the fee-paying parents spending the money on rugby facilities and coaches. Private school fee-paying parents subsidising our junior rugby player's development is the best asset that we currently have, and probably the only reason...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Probably best not to investigate who owns Oztam. Reach is definitely something Oztam's owners are happy they have started using

    Refereeing decisions

Luke Pearce was enforcing (or at least was hurrying the kicker up) this earlier in the year, but I reckon he must have got told off, because he's stopped doing it. I also think conversions will be 60s, not 90s, in the next round of law changes

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

Am I looking at the wrong table? 11 points behind the Chiefs with two rounds to go. With two BP wins, the max the Reds can earn is 10 right?
  19. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

I don't disagree, but how many games at 15 against a tactically astute kicking 10 had he played? Probably something approaching zero games? It says something more about his opposition in those 45 tests and 60 Super Rugby games

    Round 13: Brumbies v Crusaders Sat 18th 2.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

I think it's play on and all fine. Nigel Owens thinks it's against the spirit of the game and we would have the same result
