Super Rugby Pacific 2024 The Run Home

The Rebels haven't won a game since 13 April. They need to do whatever it takes to get that habit back

Super Rugby Pacific 2024 The Run Home

17 games v 14 games. Not that much of a difference. Where they get most of their advantage is not the URC, it's lengthening the season with Challenge Cup

    Australian Rugby / RA

Revenue is going to increasingly be a challenge as private equity involved with other national teams looks to maximize their own revenue, at the expense of other nations.

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

Think that's pretty likely. Start at a low entry because there's no head contact. He's got a fairly good record, so halve it for saying sorry and wearing his suit = 1 week suspension

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

He lined Swain up from 5m away at full speed. He hit him shoulder to shoulder, no bind, left his feet, and joined the ruck in from the side to do it. There wasn't head contact as far as I could see, but it was definitely dangerous, and well worth a citing and a couple of weeks off. Tupou did 3...

    Australian Rugby / RA

The Rebels spent $43m over three years, and lost $15m doing it, to win 11 games out of 41. It does seem like the gap between the money required and the money available is just too big

    Refereeing decisions

It's interesting that people are talking about what the halfback is doing. I posted the photo expecting debate as to whether the ball is actually out of the ruck. In which case the half can do what he wants

    Refereeing decisions

I think the issue is the law isn't actually clear - you have to know about a 2014 clarification. Why that isn't actually in the lawbook is another one of rugby's mysteries.

    Round 14 : Reds v Force 24 May (Suncorp)

He kicked 3/6 conversions and 2/2 penalties. JOC (James O'Connor) kicked 1/3 conversions. A pretty ordinary night for the Red's goal kickers, but Lynagh was at 63% As an aside, how can we not even find goal kicking success rate for kickers in Super Rugby? It does my head in

    Refereeing decisions

There's no "halfback is allowed to handle the ball in a ruck" exemption in the laws. There is a lot of convention in how refs handle the ruck. I would like to see more definition around exactly when it's out.

Not on the ref to announce the ball is out though? The defensive players have to take action don't they?

    Wallabies 2024

With Wilson out, if Valetini went down, I think Uru would be pretty close to the only guy we have who could replicate the volume of carries and gain line that those two offer. So he's probably in the team even if someone else actually has 8 on their back

    Round 14 : Reds v Force 24 May (Suncorp)

If we are doing stats, Uru 23 runs (!) for 43m

    Refereeing decisions

Highlights of Reds v Force. Ryan's sensation first try. Tate had the ball like this for 2 or 3.seconds(?) If you were a ref, would you consider this to be out of the ruck? (Force players didn't advance, so they didn't think so)
  15. Strewthcobber

    Round 14 : Reds v Force 24 May (Suncorp)

Force left side backline defence was frankly awful. Good play by the Reds to exploit it but the Force backs weren't dealing with very simple moves all night. Their defence on the fringes of the ruck won't make their coach very happy either

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

These are all illegal cleanout from TT. In the side, and no arms
  17. Strewthcobber

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

Justice for Frost. He was behind Tom Wright's kick then. Put in a huge effort to get back. Touchie has got that one wrong
  18. Strewthcobber

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

Tupou was shoulder to shoulder. But very lucky. That could have been ugly. Didn't come through the gate. Barely a bind there either
  19. Strewthcobber

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

What a tackle by Wright on Lancaster. Lucky he wasn't yellowed for not releasing the tackled player though. Thought that was the first offense
  20. Strewthcobber

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

Brumbies showing their class over the last 10 in that half. They are a good team. Forwards a step above what the Rebels can deal with
