    RWC: ARG v SA - 3RD-PLACE PLAYOFF

I think the Boks will hammer the Argies into submission today. Boks by 15.

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

I went out on a limb a while back and said that the extra minutes our players had played might be an advantage rather than a disadvantage at the pointy end of the tournament. Well, we're still here and with a relatively low injury count. All the teams who recently had their off-season are goooone.

I think of it as metadrivel, EatSleepDrinkRuck. Does that make our posts metametadrivel?

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

Yeah, it's crazy that we want to grow the game, and increase the size of television audiences in Australia, but without actually involving any new people.

Image doin' the rounds... Not sure what the message is? That pic of the All Blacks was taken after their loss in Sydney, when the Wallabies clinched the Rugby Championship.

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

Seriously? Most Aussie fans are claiming parity at best. I'm probably one of the most optimistic Aussies, and I've continually said that New Zealand's a better team, and that if we win, it'll be against the odds. Unless even the contemplation of Oz winning is "smugness".

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

Nah. The "swinging voters" of the Australian sporting interest, and thus advertisers, flock to success. The tiddlywinks team could win a world championship and there'd be a long tail of support for the sport to be capitalized on. Simply having made the final will increase our numbers in 2016...

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

Yes, that's my point. If I was picking a team on class then they'd almost all be Kiwis. My picks were based on what they've shown in this World Cup. B-minus overall on form, compared to our B, in my opinion. Hooper not holding a candle to Macaw is a statement about Macaw's class over time, not...

We obviously share the same larrikin sense of humour.

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

Tex, their class is what's making them favourites, not their form. Hooper has been everywhere, whereas Richie hasn't been more than a quality player. Carter had one big game, but Foley's was bigger. Smith and Kuridrani have both been quiet. Likewise Moore and Coles.

No, it's not original. It's from Green & Gold Rugby's "Rooting Proudly" T-Shirt.

    The Pulverisation of Australian Rugby

Revisting the basic premise of this thread, we seem to have survived without the complete destruction of Australian rugby by all those things that seemed so important, two years ago. That's the wonderful thing about a permanent state of hysteria: you don't have to worry too much about any of it...

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

I see it as quite even, on form: Scott Sio vs. Joe Moody AUS Stephen Moore vs. Dane Coles EVEN Sekope Kepu vs. Owen Franks AUS Kane Douglas vs. Brodie Retallick NZ Rob Simmons vs. Sam Whitelock NZ Scott Fardy vs. Jerome Kaino AUS Michael Hooper vs. Richie McCaw EVEN David Pocock vs. Kieran...

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

Australian mainstream rugby journos are dreadful. With a few exceptions they veer between death-riding the Wallabies, and bogan antagonism when we're in the running to win something. At least Kiwi mainstream rugby journos are consistently bumptious.

RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

Cheika will taper this week. All the tough conditioning was specifically so that they could taper this week, rather than tapering earlier, having more energy in the quarters and semis, and then running out of puff in the final.

    The new Wallaby jersey

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I like the current one best. I also like the white version now that I've seen it on the players.

Against a stronger team you have to take risks. I'd play Beale.
