    Higgers to the Rebels

I am getting sick of this attitude that the Rebels aren't developing players. The inaugural squad assembled less than 20 months ago and guys like Pyle and Jones have already come through. It is not as though the Reds or Brumbies didnt have established programs that allowed them to nurture the...

    Rebels 2012

Which seemed to catch them by surprise. Me and a mate caught the train down from Melbourne. It was delayed so we got there about ten minutes after kick-off and there were (at my estimate) about 1000 people stuck outside queuing for tickets. Also seemed like they underestimated the amount of bar...

    Rugby - not set pieces

Rugby Heaven are now even confused as to what sport they are covering: " Australian fly-half LeBrock James came close to helping launch a late fightback but his long-range penalty sailed just wide of the post in the 75th minute...

    Super Rugby Membership Watch

MCG memberships (actually MCC) are for the members stand at the G. This gets you entry to everything there, but there are a few restrictions like the AFL grand final goes to a ballot. You don't pay anything over or above your yearly membership to attend any cricket or footy games. Not sure how...

    Palu's Replacement

Matt Burke. 2007's George Smith. He can cover pretty much any spot in the backs. Also given he is one of the few people who is qualified to boo professional rugby teams, it should lessen the Wallabies anxiety about a poor performance knowing he is in camp, and not giving it to them from the stands.

I'd be more worried about playing them without our Lions in the squad.

    Rebels MOM vs Sharks

Unfortunately not - he doesn't qualify as he's a Kiwi and has played for Junior All Blacks. 3. Saffy 2. Delve 1. Cipriani - the good outweighed the bad.

    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

    Rebels vs Sharks - 2011R04

Don't know anything about Byrnes being injured, but with the amount of niggle he gets in to McQueen may be resting him for his own safety. I think he has been very lucky so far, especially in the Brumbies game, not to have given away more penalties.

    Andy Friend Sacked!

I think thats a factor when comparing to AFL. There is alot of money to be earned in the lower tiers of coaching (and playing) in Aussie Rules. I think this helps encourage former players who have the desire to coach to move into the system knowing there are plenty of jobs around that you can...

    Chiefs vs. Rebels - 2011R03

Apologies for taking off topic, but just wanted to close out answering Paarl's question. Amazing what a comment on the facebook page can shake loose. The Rebels have updated their fixture list for the Rebel Rising team. Playing a Sydney Rugby Union side on 11/3 before the Sharks game, what I...

    Chiefs vs. Rebels - 2011R03

The Rebels B team, Rebel Rising, have 5 games scheduled this year according to the Rebels website, of which they have played two already, against Brumby Runners and Aust Barbarians. Not sure what or when the other matches are.

    Chiefs vs. Rebels - 2011R03

I believe so. They haven't worn it in the trials or the first two games. I don't know how this one will go. I didn't expect a win last week, but the team showed some guts and determination and snuck away with one. The Chiefs have been pretty good at not getting there the last two weeks. Can...

Melbourne Rebels vs Brumbies match thread

I was sitting behind the posts and will wait til Ive watched the tape to comment on the game properly. First thing I liked was the Rebels playing hard and to win. Was good that cips boot finally came on line, especially after the first miss almost hit me. Being there and getting the close win...

Fair call. May not have thought that through. Should have finished with the possibility that he is just a bit of a prat.

    Cipriani Nightclub Investigation

And none of the other reports have suggested this either. Bottle stealing aside, a few more facts need to be established before everyone gets on their high horse about him being out boozing after a big loss.

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

I know McQueens been out in the press squashing the Michalak rumour, and with pretty good cause at the moment. Saw the Biarritz - Toulouse game last night and Freddie had a shocker. Kick charged down that went for a try, another one charged down by a prop that almost did the same. It was wet...
