Was more that he was incredibly lazy around the park and took as many shortcuts as he possibly could surely? That plus the penalties wasn't a great combination. Is having his best season to date though. I'd still start Douglas, but we won't lose much with Simmons.

The selection panel are picking the squad they best think can beat the Lions. If they think Beale is fit enough to be a part of that then so be it.

McCalman has played 21 Tests according to Wiki. If it was lineball between him and Schatz I imagine that will have got him over the line. That and his ability to play lock at a pinch. I don't see why we need three 8s in a squad though.
