How many NRC games have you attended?

I was driving the family in the car today and nearly drove off the road when I heard an add for the rugby extravaganza that is being held next Friday by the rams. This was on fm radio! Well done rams.

How many NRC games have you attended?

about to go to the first on Sunday. I'm banking on the crowd being one of the bigger ones for season 1 though the ballymore game will no doubt post the biggest crowd for the year. Hope the final is bigger!

    The League Media

Hi comment was, 'Everything is harder in AFL'. Such a flippant comment pisses me off, is wrong and disrespects rugby. Feel free to disagree and watch AFL continue to destroy Australian sport. Basketball first, cricket next.

    The League Media

Its in today's Australian No, my view is balanced, and it wasn’t Mike Pike saying it. ( I actually find him to be a solid chap – clearly a rugby man!). It was some other AFL nuffy who has never played rugby before stating that ‘Everything is harder in AFL’. It was a deliberate put-down...

    The League Media

I’ll tell you what has given me the sh!ts in today’s media – its the article about (former Canadian Rugby Intl) Mike Pike playing for the Swans this weekend. In it there is a quote by some nobody, claiming with absolutely no question that, ‘Everything in AFL is harder’ (than rugby). What...

    NRC Crowd Watch

I have a feeling that for season 1, the ARU deliberately kept the crowd breakeven requirements at 1000 per game. Assume that means paying customers of course... We should see some bigger crowds this weekend..

    Australian Rugby Development Centre

I hear there are some problems with North Ryde RSL or something demanding an early termination payment of >$1 million. Agree that it has gone very quiet but I did hear an interview with Link mid year where he spent considerable time providing input to the layout of the centre. Looks like the...

    Reds 2015

You are aware that the NRL under 20s comp will be shut down in a 2 years I think due to cost blowouts...... http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/national-youth-competition-to-be-scrapped-as-league-officials-go-back-to-the-drawing-board-20140809-1028og.html

    Super Rugby Membership Watch

Interesting to see on the Tahs website the actual numbers of members at 19,792 in 2014. Apparently signups are 50% ahead of this time last year so I guess a target of 25 - 30k is not out of the question. That would give the SFS a nice buzz. Reds at 4500. Any others?

    NRC Crowd Watch

I've yet to go to a game. ( young family blah blah) but this Sunday a pretty large group of us will be heading to Brookvale for the Rays game. If its sunny, I'd like to think 5k is a realistic target.

Two Consortiums Bidding To Buy The Tahs

yes gang - I was at the club yesterday getting schtonkered at their monthly luncheon ( Fab Fenton is a funny bugger). It was announced that contracts had been signed and $2.1 mil was deposited into their account. The remaining $19 mil will be received in 12 month's time. A phenomenal amount of...

The Awful Truth About The ARU's Financial Position

It seems in Shute Shield land, the best way to secure a club's future is via a foundation rather than attempting to play publican. Far less risk and you simply ask punters for a tax deductible donation. Uni have about $3 mil in theirs and I think Manly's new one has raised $300 so far. Makes...

The Awful Truth About The ARU's Financial Position

Norths have successfully sold Cabana Bar for some profit. I think the funds will be held in a foundation which can't be touched. The clubhouse is now part of the Union Hotel about 150 metres from NSO. Btw The Rugby Club exchanged contracts, received $2.1 million in cash and are now debt free...

The Awful Truth About The ARU's Financial Position

The answers to all your questions are on the attached. $21 mil is a serious amount of cash. Considering the mungos completely fucked up the sale of their licenced club in the Sydney CBD, I imagine this to be a significant milestone for NSW rugby in recent years...

    Super Rugby Membership Watch

Thats what worries me. At least the Tahs appeared to have legit numbers for 2013 - i.e not quite 20k. Another 5k members would fill up the SFS nicely, especially with the saders and stormers which are traditionally th ebigger drawing teams from NZ and SA.

Two Consortiums Bidding To Buy The Tahs

Old Georgina Robinson has been a bit quiet on this front. Going by her previous articles, we should know by now who's buying the licence. Anyone have any info?
