    Where to for Super Rugby?

To add: None of the 3 ARU board directors - Clyne, Robinson, Eales - that headed to ADL to meet Twiggy Forrest has ever themselves had the slightest direct professional experience in sports code business management yet this (one assumes) was the carefully chosen ARU board trio sent to confront...

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

RR, I believe I read: Wallabies in Christchurch Sunday night through Thursday, then off to Dunedin for Friday and Saturday.

Interesting isn't it. A highly talented young player like Crichton who played union all his teens comes along and with seeming honesty in a public interview gives his side of the story as to why he want to league and multiple posters here come out and effectively say he's lying or masking the...

Maybe Crichton in hindsight considers that a good reason to have stayed away. Hanigan to me looks wildly over-promoted in a Wallabies jersey and so often that can lead to a career set-back rather than a major career consolidation moving forward.

Sounds like the Tahs management and recruitment organisation performed well again. I suspect Ponga and Croft and Sua's story might not be dissimilar.

    The Wallabies Thread

I think you'd know - I agree. But surely by now we must all realise - for at least 20 years, the ARU has had absolutely no idea regarding the creation of a system-wide approach to Australian rugby skills development in depth and coaching development or the building of coaching development...

Powerful article just now published in the AFR by Jennifer Hewatt, a seasoned and senior business journalist.........love the headline Rugby union crash tackles itself OPINION Aug 21 2017 at 4:00 PM Updated 1 hr ago What is it about sports management in this country? The decision by...

Dru, of course. But don't make the mistake of underestimating the false hubris and base arrogance that comes from being an ex-CEO of a 'major Australian bank'. It's very typical of the genre. They often think 'we are the special ones'. As Peter Costello said last week: the big 4 banks' high...

Surely gives new meaning to the phrase 'an embattled (ARU) Board' as they contemplate this new missile heading eastwards.

Richard Hinds on ABC gets stuck right in (and not very complimentary re a certain Fox Sports commentator, though we all know here what class acts they really are): Australian rugby remains in denial over Bledisloe Cup shambles, deeper problems...

Wallabies v All Blacks Saturday 26th August at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin

100% Scrubber. Just like Australian rugby's quality and success level over time will never exceed the calibre and capability of the ARU board (whatever that may be), an elite rugby team's results will never exceed the calibre and capability of its entire coaching group (whatever that may be)...

    The Wallabies Thread

Here is the NZ Herald Rattue article Lou75 usefully referred to above: Chris Rattue: Wallabies must dump useless Michael Cheika and consider a Kiwi coach again Call this Robbie Deans revisited - Australian rugby must call for foreign aid, again. In other words, it's time for an overseas...

    The Wallabies Thread

Maybe, but that Rattue article as referenced above made some excellent, objectively justified points. Far more accurate, thoughtful and incisive than most of the utter rubbish that comes from our mainstream rugby media here. Perhaps on occasion you and others should consider the substance of...

QH, you would know that I'd agree with that, having made the same point for at least 6 years or more here. Amongst many other deficiencies, the institutional culture of Australian rugby has evolved into one where literally no one takes genuine responsibility for anything, and accordingly there...

Just re Kerevi. A number of us in the Reds fora made the obvious point that Stiles' promotion of Kerevi to Reds Captain was a severe error or judgement (actually Stiles EOJ #379) that would (a) send this player entirely the wrong message re where he was in terms of personal skills and general...

Super Rugby 2017: matches not involving Australian teams

Pulver's PR people keep feeding into our supine, intellectually docile rugby journos that 'Pulver's done a wonderful job at improving the ARU's international relationships after the fractious JO'N years that broke bonds.' And, true to form, they repeat it like a mantra. This may be true - the...
