Where to for quality Rugby journalism???

Of course the answer is 'Green and Gold', but with the news from Fairfax today I fear that we may soon be seeing and reading less of the thoughtful, insightful, erudite, relevant, self-deprecating, knowledgeable and enjoyable pieces from some of our favourite Rugby journaklists: Grumbles, Fitz...

    William hatches an egg

Agree, and also speed is essential in attack, (and to keep putting on cliches), attack is the best defence. And even if the Wallabies were doing it to set their attack, it allowed the Welsh to set their defence. With Genia hovering over the ball like he was, potentially exposed the ball to the...

    DON'T PANIC - G&GR Front Page getting a facelift

It looks cleaner! Though it was a bit of a shock at first, but it looks good.

    CAS Rugby 2012

Is it confirmed? I would think that would disadvantage Knox... Their forwards may do better in a mudbath and the Waverley backs would have their impact diluted if played in a field with 6 inches (152 mm) of water sloshing about. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there were more Waverley...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

The jersey can only be put on by the player wearing it. If it requires assistance by another party then it is illegal. Or more simply, rugby players need to be able to dress themselves. That should help with the 'too tight' jersey...and we could also get back to wearing/ seeing those old...

Wallabies vs Wales - Suncorp Stadium June 9

As long as we don't get players standing over the ball at a ruck or maul (though one really can't stand over the ball at a maul..), waving their arms around madly try to get players to line up for yet another forwards bash to get with-in 1 meter of the advantage line whilst Wales singularly sets...

    Wallabies vs Scotland - 5 June 2012

What gets me is the slow delivery of the ball from the rucks and mauls. I am not necessarily blaming Genia, but why do halfbacks have what I call the Gregan disease....there isa ruck and maul and the half back sits over the top of directing traffic instead of letting the ball go.... Time and...

    Help Enforcer Out

He may be over the top, but how about shooting an email off to Peter Fitszimons at the SMH. Ask him on how he got his job in the media etc. I get the idea that he may help (especially if you massage his ego....) Buy I think he started by sending in articles on the sport and also had a 'story...

Channel 9 continues the tradition of absymal free to air rugby coverage...

11.15?!?!? What is happening to Survivor that night... This action by Channel 9 is making it harder to use free-to-air TV to get any meaningful and useful entertainment from them.

    CAS Rugby 2012

Aloys 15 Knox 14 A game that was at times entertaining and frustrating, Aloys put away a poorly disciplined and underwhelming Knox. Though one of their players seemed to be seriously injured: taken away by an ambulance, Aloys seemed more enthusiastic and committed. Both sides showed some abysmal...

    CAS Rugby 2012

Gentlemen, if only the depth and strength of the commentary was about meaningful and useful observations about CAS Rugby, rather than juvenile, asinine, pathetic, self-glorification and nasty digs about other schools this thread would be useful. Currently it is descending towards an area where...

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

The above theory was on display last night with the kicking from the horsies: the kicks went for touch or into open space with mobs of chasers following. There was one 'box kick' which lost the Brumbies both territory and possession. Why do sides persist with them??.. Also what I thought was...

    CAS Rugby 2012

With Knox facing Waverley and Trinity in the next two weeks, it looks as though it could be a long dark season for them. Possibly four consecutive losses, something that hasn't happened for a while. And with Barker getting a convincing win in the 2nds, the recent 'golden age' of Rugby at Knox...

    CAS Rugby 2012

I am of a similar thought re national anthems, only played when the national side plays or for a truly national event. Last Saturday it did indeed feel it was a bit out of place and unnecessary. Almost cringeworthy..almost as much as Knox getting all three Oakhill team lists incorrect in the...

Blues Vs Reds Super Rugby Round 10, 2012

One annoying thing was Genia's box kicks...often resulting in not only losing possession but territory as well. Why when your team is reigning supreme in the line outs not go for touch. Hopefully he gets rid of some of that apparently aimless kicking mentality.

    Waratahs vs Sharks - RD5 2012

Perhaps the vision control tech was in one of those drink queues.

    Rebels v Force - Round 5 - Super Rugby 2012

It may not have been of the highest quality, nor an instant classic. And, from memory, I tipped it incorrectly, but for an Australian derby it was a great game. There were tries, both sides showed passion, commitment and looked like they really enjoyed themselves. And the game was in the...

    ISA Rugby 2012

Often that is the case with Aloys...poor depth. They will always have a handful of good players, but will struggle with depth. Though their lower sides will still be quite willing. Oakhill would have greater depth than Aloys I think.

    Digby banned for five weeks

Oops...missed the video posting whilst posting mine. There was an earlier post in another thread about the increasing prevalence of these tackles...even with the rather consistently harsh (or at least until this ban) responses by the refs - a 10 minute spell in the bin. As the tackles have...

    Digby banned for five weeks

Does anyone have video of the incident? For 8 weeks, it must have been a fairly atrocious tackle: people have gouged, head-butted, dislocated touring Irishmen's shoulders and received far less.
