The one and only Wallaby Coach thread

I’m not sure how to reply to a post in one thread in another thread, but I was referring specifically to the coaching and related staff mostly brought in by Jones.

I don't disagree with that but that culture wasn't winning us many games either. It's impossible to know how we would have fared if we left Rennie at the helm but I suspect we would have probably made it to the quarters and that's it. One silver lining out of this clusterfuck is that several...

    Wallabies 2024

It certainly reads as though the proverbial broom is being put through the joint. Which isn't a bad thing I don't think. The process to remove a director/chairman is a bit different of course.

Well here we go. Eddie saying he’s open to negotiating a deal to walk away from RA. I.e. give me some decent coin and then I can go coach Japan. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/jones-tells-rugby-australia-he-s-open-to-deal-to-walk-away-from-wallabies-20231010-p5eb0r.html

RWC Bronze Final - Argentina v England 28/10/23, 0800 NZDT

Listening to the GBR-Au podcast during the week, they were discussing the exact ‘fucks given’ scenario above, and referred to the 2011 Bronze final which they called ‘Wales week’. Essentially both teams would be treating it similar to a Barbarians game.

Daniel Botha. Exceptionally average graphics from the intern there.

RWC Final - New Zealand v South Africa 29/10/23, 0800 NZDT

I'm not sure, that's pretty standard day in NZ isn't it? i.e. Miserable. Maybe the France conditions are a bit warm and a lower chance of rain I guess.

    SF2: England v South Africa 22/10/23 @ 0800 NZDT

Although the game was a lot closer than expected, the outcome was totally as predicted in that South Africa won being the only try scorers and all of England’s points coming off Farrell’s boot.

Indeed, we certainly let the side down. If we had beaten Fiji it could have been an all SANZAAR semi finals.

That ended up being a pretty good watch in the end. Derpus, pretty sure you will watch it, it could end up being immense. If you don’t you could be like all those people who cleared out of Sydney for the 2000 Olympics.

I was hoping that at some stage during the week someone would have explained the laws around the self imposed HIAs?

    SF2: England v South Africa 22/10/23 @ 0800 NZDT

12-12 with no tries would be a very apt full time result for this. Then omit both sides from the competition and bring in France as the substitute finalist.

I would have done the same thing, Libbok wasn’t handling the pressure at all. Now is not his time.

    SF2: England v South Africa 22/10/23 @ 0800 NZDT

Whichever of these teams makes the final is going to be physically munted compared to the All Blacks after their semi opposed training run yesterday, and with one less day rest as well.

Didn’t you marry one? Considering the opposition that is probably a reasonable excuse. Or you can just be a neutral. My aunt married a British diplomat and lived in Durban her whole adult life, so I find myself supporting South Africa for this one.

I'll also say that I'm not anti-Eddie - if the post season review basically finds that he did the best he could with the shit show that he inherited, and that he is the bloke to take us forward and fix things, then I'll fully get behind him. He certainly inferred at the presser the other day...

Oh yeah, I'm not suggesting or advocating a legal battle based on some ambiguous clauses - I'm referring to possibly failing to meet clear ones, and/or a potential breach of contract by holding discussions with the JRU. All I'm saying is I feel there is a bit to play out in this soap opera yet.

Not if he hasn't met the performance criteria, and if failing those means he can be cut loose without cost beyond the normal entitlements. The salary numbers are different for the next 4 years compared with this year, so the contract 'extension' may well be contingent on meeting the KPIs...
