That list is for the yr 12 leavers of 2012, I was referring to yr 11 this year (ie he was Dux of his year in yr 10 last year). To the poster who noted this was a blatant lie are you now saying that a good rugby player can't also excel academically?

I think they have always been both, although what would happen in the GPS vs CHS game?

It may interest some to know that of the two year 11 boys on the Tongan bursary, one was Dux of his year last year and the other was not far behind.

Where are you getting these stats from? My year at New (I came from Lindfield), every single boy from Lindfield went over to Stanmore, the same with the year aboveand the year below (late 80s). Last year of the 20 or so boys at Lindfield Prep yr 6 at least 14 went on to Stanmore.

Is it true Scots has a boy playing Shute Shield?

Historically the majority of Newington Lindfield DO go to Stanmore. Lindfield is a much smaller prep than Wyvern. Of the 15-25 kids in Lindfield yr 6 each year only 2-3 go elsewhere (Riverview, King's or Shore), hardly a majority.

What is a "whatever" scholar? If it only takes one "sports/whatever" scholar to disqualify the whole team maybe EVERY SINGLE team in the 6 relevant GPS teams should be disqualified. Each of the GPS schools finances are available on the myschool website. If you want to talk about "real money"...

I did not claim 'they all did community work'. Scrieber asked me for evidence of what else these boys bring to the school and that was a readily accessible example (it was reported in local press). It does not mean it is THE ONLY example. I do not attend the College (obviously), nor do I have...

I am not a"denier". As mentioned in my first post on this I do not believe in pure sporting scholarships and I would be very disappointed in my alma mater (an founder member of the AAGPS) if this is concsulively what they are doing. Of course it has something to do with what the kid brings ot...

Still unsure where the number "7 boys in the 1st XV coming in year 11" comes from.

I do not work as an admissions officer for the College, perhaps your queries are best directed there. I do know however that the College advertises its scholarship/bursaries (which include criteria) on its website and I have posted that link previously.

We are going around in circles here. Yes these kids are good football players but does that conclusively mean that they are at the school ONLY for their ability to play football?

Sorry that was Speiber. Yes Tepai has signed with Eels And the other 20 kids allegedly on full lsports scholarships. Where are their contracts? I also do not want to mention lads when they are at school but I feel I need to defend them from baseless aacusations.

You asked for an example where the recipient of an all rounder scholarship made a contribution other than on the football field and I gave you one. I never said altrusitic contributions were limited to GPS scholarship holders. Has this young man signed a league contract? Have any of the other...

What about the other 20? You pick one kid who is doing something noteworthy apart from Rugby and think that explains away a cynical process of buying a premiership. No one says the kids on the scholarships are not great kids. It's the morally bankrupt method of the School that people object to...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

The clue is in the name and the criteria. There are quite a few talented sportsmen at the College who happen to excel in other areas of school life. Another non-scholarship example is the boy in year 12 who last came came close to making the Olympic team in his chosen sport who is also one of...

I do not have a list of "scholarship" holders nor do I have a list of Newington's 2nd XV (or 1st XV for that matter since as far as I am aware the teamis are not final). The College lists the Tongan scholarships on its website (these are offeredeach year) and also lists all rounder sholarships...
