Gifted players are often very instinctive, and if limited IQ, have very little idea why this is so! Basically the rule rather than the exception in rugby league, whereas AFL abounds with many top players who become top coaches.

Sir Clive Woodward and Robbie Deans come to mind Bruce. But I tend to agree - probably more duds than winners.

Agree with your statement re true sportsmen but not everybody who loves rugby has to be an A/1sts player - 5th's at some schools that have 12 open teams can be reasonable players - obviously never destined for greater things - although a 3rds prop recently went onto TNS 1st grade as a winger.
