I thought Mowen was prob the best of a bad bunch last night. TPN also, but Mr Kamikaze has done it to himself again. Seems like a much needed bye coming up for the Tahs

well done to Phil Waugh for being the biggest hard nut out there; I'm just not sure if it was the most 'sensible' thing to do either...

In the sense that a lot of the Tahs should get minus points, someone who doesn't play and therefore gets zero points may be quite high on the rankings.

Good call, Hawko.

I note that you have been over at The Roar setting a few people straight. I used to be quite involved with their site but eventually found it to be totally unproductive posting there. Logical argument has no influence on the attitudes or opinions of many of their members. I hadn't been there for months but yesterday someone drew my attention to a particularly outrageous article by Spiro.

I think it is worthwhile taking issue with professional journos because people naïvely assume they know what they're talking about. So I fired a shot across Spiro's bows and received in return a very lame response which included:

“The fact that none of Carter’s ‘tackles’ actually registered to viewers, or to this viewer, means as far as I’m concerned, that they were tackles in name only.”

Then I noticed last night from the email notifications of responses that you had also entered the fray.

It was a strange game, we got blown way in 30 minutes, we were on top for twenty, Nau goes off, we get blown off a scrum, they get an intercept, then build pressure, then a player struggles to commit to a tackle.

Game over

But it was in the end 3 tries all and decided by the Crusaders taking the foot off and the Tah's inability to kick goals

If we'd kicked our goals then we'd have been right in this, likely taking a bonus point out of it, but really who knows. Had we put more points on when they were on offer the whole game would have changed. Perhaps with points on the board the forwards would have manned up more? Who knows..

I still reckon Gordon D'Arcy would have done a great job for the Tahs, just like Peter Hewat did before he headed overseas. A solid kicker is point 1 in challenging for the title.

The signal to noise ratio there is beyond my patience.

Could not agree more. My strategy going forward will be to keep an eye on Spiro and ignore everyone else on The Roar. If he writes nonsense then I think it is doing a public service to call him on it. I think he is getting lazy and pandering to the lowest common denominator element on his site. It is a shame because he can write insightfully about rugby. I see that The Chosen has also been across there where he posed the question:

"What wacky tobaacy are you on Spiro"
