Time to Complain to the ARU

Antony, you've just made my day. .

Wallabies vs Wales - Suncorp Stadium June 9

Robbiespeak: "Timani, in difficult conditions for a forward, was accurate, his frame was evident and he was effective around the contact." "His frame was evident"! It's a bit like a teacher, stuck for something to write in a school report, penning, "He sits up straight in class." When he...

    Robbie Deans

Well, muddy, he's just got himself another yes man in Tony McGahan. The difference this time is that unless Robbie says "yes" to whatever Totality instructs him to do he may find himself garbage-bagged out the door. .

    Waratahs 2013

If only it were possible to transfer games retrospectively, p.T. I can think of a number of games this season that I would have been more than prepared not to have attended so that they could be played in front of the Novocastrians. .

Time to Complain to the ARU

At times, RH, you can be a very harsh critic. I fear this may blind you to the good things that people and organisations do. I'm going to pose a question: When was the last time that the ARU stated a clear objective and achieved it? Do you get my point? Objective: To do the Scots a favour by...

    Who's to Blame?

The game was played in absolutely diabolical conditions and as others have suggested players don't have much experience of coping with these circumstances. So perhaps this is not the occasion for wrist-slashing. What concerns me, and it has been a general theme, is the lack of clear structure...

    Wallabies vs Scotland - 5 June 2012

Lacking a bit of clarity around our direction Robbie's presser was a classic of the genre: Iain Payten* of the esteemed Daily Telegraph interpreted that as meaning: "It's not in our DNA (to play in the wet) but it's an art we have to develop." Hmm, not quite how I read it but I bow to Iain's...

What is wrong with the Tahs

That rambling series of words reproduced above was reputedly written by a professional journalist. .

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

Fairfax journos never react to me using them as comment fodder. I continually rubbish Scoop Growden, Spiro Zavas and Matthew Burke but they don't seem to mind or don't know I exist. .

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

Catriona, it's part of what Iain Payten (@iainpayten) posted on Twitter on May 29 as an instruction to one of his followers. It relates to my post on Jamie Pandaram which apparently caused mass outrage at News Ltd. When I thought of using it as my signature I went back to Twitter to confirm...

Press releases from the ARU Media Unit

This old dog apparently will have to learn a new trick, Scarfie. I had no idea there was such a restrictive prescription on the use of the semi-colon. I've been winging it for years. Quite often when writing I choose between a comma and a semi-colon on the basis of what I think would be the...

    Help Enforcer Out

I don't think that Enforcer's request should be viewed as "pretty high on the desperation scale ". People use sites such as LinkedIn for the purpose of using their contacts to advance their careers, and often the contacts are fairly nebulous. By contrast at G&GR we're a real community and...

    Waratahs 2013

I'm really struggling, en_force_er, to work out what your comment has to do with my challenge to "It is what I said". I'd be grateful if you would enlghten me.

    Waratahs 2013

"has been caught out far too often when it matters". Please provide examples, iiwii. Hopefully you are not just relying on the Crusaders game this year. "You cannot hide defensively in the centres and teams will target him to pieces." When has he ever "hid[den] defensively in the centres"...

    Shute Shield 2012

I do, but I don't think much is gained by criticising other clubs. Hopefully the club concerned is working to purge the rogue element. .

Waratahs vs Hurricanes - Super Rugby 2012 Rd 15

In the broad church of Waratahs supporters on G&GR there is room for us all. I think that wj is much more of a realist than he is given credit for. He sees the faults and shares the disappointments but his love for the 'Tahs transcends everything else. He also has a very subtle sense of humour...

What is wrong with the Tahs

Scoop has stumbled onto the story of the season but apparently doesn't realise it: For some time it has been desperate at Waratahland - both on and off the field. The NSW marketing gurus are trying to lure the punters in by enticing them in with a two-ticket deal, which included last night and...

Waratahs vs Hurricanes - Super Rugby 2012 Rd 15

Sorry, I can't answer that, kiap. As mentioned above, usually you can take fitness as a given and most teams can comfortably play out 80 minutes. What stands out is when teams are not being appropriately conditioned. .

Waratahs vs Hurricanes - Super Rugby 2012 Rd 15

Don't let it get you down, ACR. Virtually everyone I raise the issue with makes the same assumption. Not only that but they assume that the type of fitness training employed is appropriate for rugby. .
