Remembered watching this race, IIRC there was somewhat of an headwind that day - he was pretty quick back then. Ran the relay in his final year. Seem to remember Phil Waugh was also pretty fleet of foot at school. :cool:

The SUFC UK touring squad makes for interesting reading. A clique more exclusive than the Australian Club or even ARU HQ. Membership prerequisites are past attendance at a GPS school or Andrews/Johns/Pauls college, or indeed preferably both. Not a glowing advertisement for SUFC.

Can tell from personal experience that Harvard still has a minimum entry requirement. That said, the rowers are probably at the wrong end of the Harvard bell curve for intelligence.

I find it interesting that someone in Brisbane, with apparently no connection to any Sydney AAGPS school, can be so definitive in their opinion.

He could well be referring to area, in which case the sole junior club servicing the above four mentioned locales would indeed be the largest in Sydney, although I think he is referring to one nearer my back door.
