    Sydney Subbies 2016

Incompetence starts at the ARU level and filters down all the way to subbies administration.

    Sydney Subbies 2016

My understanding is multiple clubs across the Divs were upfront with subbies around numbers but as usual subbies didn't want to know about it. KOBs will do well to see out the season which is a sad outcome for a good club.

Hunters over BOBs 62-13 and 50-0 in 1s and 2s also raising alarm bells.

    Sydney Subbies 2016

More interested in player numbers. Hearing 4 or 5 clubs struggling across DIV's to field required teams.

Trials done and dusted....who looks hot and who is not?

    Sydney Subbies 2016

How is the trial form looking? Does anyone know if Pierre Hola played for Hunters in the weekends trial against Forest and & Waverley?

    Sydney Subbies 2016

Hearing mixed signals from clubs. In the eastern suburbs clubs like Waverley and UNSW are reporting an influx of new players (poms, scots, irish ex pats and travellers). In the north clubs like St Ives, Newport, Forest ,Brothers and Oatley in the south are concerned around lower grade numbers...

An all in in a 10's tournament! Bodes well for the session proper. Subbies better fire up the judiciary early!!

    Sydney Subbies 2016

Reports from Breakers are positive. I had heard Forest were suffering from their 1st & 2nd premiership victories. A few older 1st graders have taken the opportunity to bow out on a high and for that to be their swan song.

    Sydney Subbies 2016

Mates from several clubs are telling me numbers have been very thin but are slowly building. I'll stand by my view from end of last season that half of Div 1 clubs will not be able to field 5th grade & the same goes in DIV 2 around 4th grade. The player numbers just are not there. The carnage...

I saw in Saturdays local that Newport are playing a hybrid Union/league game against the local league team which has recruited Former bad boy John Hopoate into their team. Should make for an interesting spectacle.

And pre-season beings........ any early signs good or bad around the clubs?

    2015/16 Rugby 7's Round 4 - Sydney 6/7 February

You have to just shake your head and laugh. Off the back of a RWC, which exceeded all hopes and provided a long suffering code the opportunity to bask briefly in the mainstream media the ARU knocks on the head one of its its highest profile players playing rugbys 1st showcase event of 2016...

Maybe St Ives will be there?

    Sydney Subbies 2016

Subbies Redfield decision sets a precedent going forward. I've lost count of how many clubs Subbies have destroyed by forcing them higher against club protests around strength and depth. Only for that club to falter mid year and drop Divs the following season. At least that won't be an issue...

    Sydney Subbies 2016

Hills and Waverley have plenty of players. Judging on this season UNSW and Mountains look the most vunerable followed by the remaining Forest, Newport, HH and BOBS. As the subbies AGM indicates, there just isnt the cattle running round anymore to field the 1990 grading system.

    Sydney Subbies 2016

At least subbies will now scrap the $500 per team ARU levy off the back of the new TV deal.

    Sydney Subbies 2016

And maybe joined by a couple of DIV 2 clubs looking to drop to 4 teams.
  19. Heavyd

    Sydney Subbies 2016

That assume clubs like KOBs, Hawkesbury Valley and Oatley can meet the 4 team requirement. That good prove to be a significant hurdle. Also hearing half of 2nd DIV clubs want a 3 team + colts for 2016.

    Sydney Subbies 2016

What does that mean for Brothers and Iggies colts teams?
