    Where to for Super Rugby?

While some will and can argue that these numbers are the post RWC bounce and up-tick Rugby received in Australia going back to the 90s crowds were also better than what we have been seeing since 2012 or so.

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

The amazing Rugby Judicial system. This week supplies the best cases as examples of how ridiculous the system is. Case 1) SBW - a pre-meditated shoulder charge into the head of a player (forget the "oh he isn't a dirty player, it isn't who he is" bullshit handwringing, he has previous form)...

    Waratahs 2018

If correct, and I see no reason to dispute it, it points to the real core issue for the under performance, the entitled attitude in many of the players. Like petulant children they will rag on a bloke for being good and attracting the attention of "sir". Not that I am a fan of Hooper...

    The Wallabies Thread

I also wonder about the history and the involvement of some Tahs players in the Link/Patston fiasco and how that taint still remains and perhaps even gets stronger with the return of Beale. With culture problems having some players basically never accountable truly ingrains the entitled...

    The Wallabies Thread

The comments were not a direct selection suggestion, just a segue of comparison between the eras.

    The Wallabies Thread

^^^^^ Upthereds and Sauron - Chieka is fast getting to the Deans point of crazy selections. I expect that if Hooper gets injured, Smith will not get selected and McCalman (or similar) will play at 7 as they have the proven abiltity to do so. Also Robertson will be selected time and again...

    Aussie Player Exodus

Have a look at Llyod Walker, he had better hands and feet than Knox by far, which is probably where Knoxy learnt. It wasn't the point of my post though.

    The Wallabies Thread

Its a myth. There are plenty of examples of him jumping and winning lineouts both for the Tahs and Uni, and in the correct position for him at 2. Don't let facts get in the way. As usual its all about how he is used, and exactly the same issue was had with S. Timani because Deans/Blades had no...

    The Wallabies Thread

I'd have to disagree. Its a 23 man game now days and the selection table is where the balance has to be made, that is where successive Australian coaches have failed. Do not forget that Macqueen was selecting a 135Kg Willie O in 1998 to replace Kefu at the 50 minute mark. There was no way that...

    Reds 2018

Must have been the Uni he went to... and the way he fights sort of proves it given the team he played for (BOOOOO St Albies) :)

    Aussie Player Exodus

I have always thought because they are "pushed" (selected and contracted into EPS/Squads) before they have truly developed. In some cases despite their undoubted abilities which a structured game could be based around, just like the Tahs under Link to Foley, 10s who do not fit the myth of...

    Reds 2018

The "State of the Union" Series' massive passion, some brutal games. Compare to the "professional games now and the level of skill on display is comparatively rubbish. Especially when the improved defences argument cannot be used now as an excuse as to why the execution is so poor. About 3:30...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

A sense of entitlement is not only the province of players. With professionalism came "professional" remuneration for those in admin. Where has the performance been. I listened to a very interesting podcast interview on Pyscopathic behaviour...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Spot on QH. You'll remember I posted a serious article/rant asking why the Tahs despite the playing ranks over the years and numerous coaches including the RWC winning Dwyer and other very well respected coaches have failed. The answers I opined at the time were poo pooed by most, though now...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

^^^^ on performance there wouldn't be two players from all five teams, including extended squads, that deserve selection. Honestly don't care if Super Rugby ceases to exist, IMHO Australian Rugby performed better prior to it in terms of the players own skill and performance.

Agree Ruggo, Mafi, has been the best forward in Australian Rugby this year and Leitch pretty handy as well, if Japan can build around them again like they did at the RWC against SA the Wallabies are ripe for the taking.

    Australian Rugby / RA

If it was being run professionally then performance would be accountable. Plenty of scape goats have been seen in Australian Rugby, but no true accountability and even more jobs for under performing boys club people.

    Waratahs 2018

Unless the "culture" at the Tahs (and Australian Rugby for that matter) is fixed and the nepotism is removed, that sees ex-players fixed as coaches of lower level sides, that sees promotions of coaches despite actual results, that sees players paid relatively large salaries yet consistently fail...
