So is Pius becoming a full Division 1 school again - not sharing the fixtures between St. Gregs and themselves?

Historically, lack of genuine beef has always been an issue for Pats. The years where they managed to get some big boppers running around in 1sts generally saw them beating far more fancied rivals. Good luck to them for Black and Green (Green and Black?) this Saturday.

    How's Pat's looking this year?

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

Agreed. And the medical staff would be selected based upon their medical/physio qualifications, not if they are school teachers. Coaching and selecting should be the same.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

Agreed that teachers have a better skill set in organising and managing the "away trip" and as someone who has organised events like this before, I always gravitated towards teachers/ex-teachers because I knew they knew how to work in this environment. But this isnt a trip to a camp ground or...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

I believe it's to say that the school boy pathway is one for not just players, but teachers as well.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

    Agreed with all of this.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

I have no doubt the quality of the experience is great, but I wonder if the time, effort and expense of putting the pathway together would be better spent in developing grass roots participation in schools - particularly when a pathway already exists. School sport and club sport spend a...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

There may be more to it than this, but I struggle with the idea that RA is responsible for funding the tour if they don't have any skin in the game. If they're blocked from making coaching appointments (or any other input for that matter) then why should they foot the bill? The relevance of...

New Blog Post: 2018 changes to Sydney schools rugby fixtures

I believe this is a step in the right direction to be honest. Most people who follow and post comments regarding school boy rugby tend to be only interested or motivated by the fortunes of their school's 1stXV. Whilst this is all well and good, the majority of rugby played doesn't involve these...

The best XV of players from any school

Shehadie off the bench? That's a big call. I would have thought he'd be in the starting XV.

It seems like they've had a lot of close losses this year. I feel for them - must have been a frustrating season for them.

    Intriguing - source?

    2017 AAGPS/CAS Combined "Comp"

Ok - well if that's the case (and I'm happy to accept that it is) then why would they bother approaching the ARU? If they are not there to (as part of a broader education) foster Rugby, then why would they be concerned about how the ARU conducts it's business or develops the sport? That's why...

    2017 AAGPS/CAS Combined "Comp"

I want to call BS on this (the quote from the Headmaster). The GPS (and other) schools lock up Rugby talent and prevent boys from accessing the club pathway (and other sports), despite the fact that most of the boys of ability in the GPS learnt their chops playing for their local village or...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

Agreed. Cooerwall Aacademy and St Pats Goulburn no longer exist and Stannies and All Saints are now and ISA schools so it seems like long standing traditions (and members) can still come and go.

    Boys heading o/seas to play

If NSR is running it, then it won't be worth attending. The College's they typically work with fall into two categories - NAIA or NJCAA. The only scholarships remotely worth looking into are from NCAA Div 1 or Div 2 schools. The Colleges NSR work with are poorly rated both educationally and with...

    CAS Rugby 2017

I think it's important that every game that a team plays is taken at it's merits. As a St. Pat's Old Boy, I can tell you that every game we played at school was real, important and we wanted to win them all regardless of which association that team was in. I think having greater "cross...
