    The Wallabies Thread

Let's keep this discussion to the Tahs 2019 thread.

    Waratahs 2019

Can Super Rugby teams trade players? I seem to recall the Force and Rebels doing some sort of trade a few years ago, but can't remember who was involved. If I were the Tahs I'd be looking to trade to get Tui if possible. Gordon could go north, or Hegarty, or Clark, or a mix of the three. .

Possibles vs Probables Friday 3rd August 6.45pm kickoff

I think it would have drawn a bigger crowd at North Sydney Oval, or maybe Brookvale. But I'm not sure it would have worked at the SFS. Something about a grass hill and a more intimate setting.

Possibles vs Probables Friday 3rd August 6.45pm kickoff

I suppose intimate settings and cheap tickets isn't exactly a recipe for a financially viable game though, sadly. And here we come to the great rugby dilemma, where the business of sport clashes with the people that want to watch it, and the places they want to go. .

    Reds 2019

I'd snap him up ASAP, and worry about the details later. He's just the thing they need. Reds people, what the hell is actually happening up there? People are talking about culture issues, but what does that actually mean? Tired of losing? Bad morale? Poor leadership? Anger about the...

Possibles vs Probables Friday 3rd August 6.45pm kickoff

The large crowd does present a few learnings. It certainly surprised me. I've always thought that people are looking for meaning in sporting fixtures. Whether that's two top teams fighting for a finals spot (eg Swans vs Pies) or a clash of traditional rivals etc etc. The narrative is important...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It's another mindless rant from Alan Jones, heavy on opinion and third-hand rumour and light on facts. The crux is: But like everything Alan says, there is no research and analysis behind this. We'd all love a trans-tasman comp, we've been talking about it for years. The ARU even had a crack...

Tui is having a belter. Genia just makes such a difference. Head and shoulders above the rest.

Big crowd in. What a great initiative. Wish I was there.

    Australian Rugby / RA

I'm not sure the World Cup holds that much appeal. How is it different to any other round of the World Series? If anything, you see less of the teams you like - I think we only played four games as opposed to our usual five/six every tournament. .

Melbourne would be perfect for a few years Lindo. Perth would probably be good too. Even Newcastle could give it a shake.

Rugby's popularity is slowly declining in all demographics, except one - rich guys from Perth. Man, those guys can't get ENOUGH rugby.

Is Sam Cordingley still pulling the strings on contracting? Have heard he can be quite difficult as well.

Possibles vs Probables Friday 3rd August 6.45pm kickoff

I'm not sure this game will be a good indicator of anything really. With the established players, anyway. I am much more interested in how the Walsh/Maneti team play than the Cheika team. He's already selected his 23 for the Bledisloe I reckon, this is just about blowing away the cobwebs.

    Reds 2019

Jeez if Kerevi walks out it would be a hammer blow to the Reds. Although this morning's article read to me like a player agent firing a warning shot to Queensland, in the hope that they will sharpen their pencil. I wouldn't write him off yet.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I don't really know what RA is doing, nobody does. I wouldn't assume they are doing nothing, nor would I assume they are way down the road on a master plan to solve all our issues. I'd suggest the dysfunction between SS Clubs and RA you mention is in fact subsiding. My only metric for this is...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This is a good point, one I hadn't considered. With the usual caveats (if it's funded/promoted properly etc) then a new W Syd team in a new stadium could be a viable proposition, for sure. .
