    Australian Rugby / RA

Back in the mid 90s there were a few tests played on a Wednesday night. One of which was the Bledisloe where Gregan made THAT tackle to deny the ABs the win.

The ARU should bring back John O'Neill to replace Bill Pulver. Third times the charm.

    Reds 2017

Should be aiming for first in the conference. Brumbies have lost a heap of experience, especially in the backs (Lilo, To'omua); Waratahs have been in decline since winning the title in 2014 (they need to find a 'new' Potgeiter for their forward pack) Rebels don't have the depth to last the...

    How to fix the wallabies

Watching them play last night IMHO we need to move away from the 'width' mantra as it seems to be just chucking the ball across field with little go forward. Australian backline play used to revolve around creating 'time and space' for support players, which is where the running rugby mantra...

    How to fix the wallabies

It is not the rules that have turned the fans away, it has been the style of play and sometimes the ineptness of performance. If the Wallabies start winning consistently and play a good style whilst doing it the crowds will come back.

    How to fix the wallabies

That would have roughly been 1996 when the CEO decided that kids dropped out of rugby at about 15 years of age so we didn't really need to worry about getting kids younger than that playing. We needed to focus on getting 15 years old kids to start playing rugby instead.

    How to fix the wallabies

I haven't been involved with my old club this year but they had a new committee formed after a number of members decided to pull the pin at the end of 2015 after years of blood, sweat and tears just trying to keep the club afloat. The first thing the new committee did (with division approval)...

    How to fix the wallabies

I was talking mainly about junior pathways which is why I mentioned private schools (not having a go at them) and clubs. If we can improve the second pathway we should get more players coming through (which will help clubs at all levels) and with a larger base hopefully more players of quality.

tbh, could it be we are getting too many athletes into our system and not enough rugby players?

    How to fix the wallabies

I posted on here back when the site started that the ARU needed to develop a second pathway to the Wallabies, not just rely on the private school one. Unfortunately they didn't and with changing demographics the private school production line is starting to falter. With money running low it is...

    How to fix the wallabies

Improve the coaching at Super Rugby level would be a great start. Our players were so far behind their NZ and SA opposition this year it wasn't funny. I don't believe our players fully understand what it means to be a professional athlete when it comes to improving performance.

    The Wallabies Thread

Height? Coleman is 205cm, Arnold is 208cm. Not a great deal of difference. We need a pack of rabid mongrels who won't take a backward step. I am sick of Wallaby packs being bent over and given the proverbial rodgering by the ABs. Watching the game last night one of the differences I noticed was...

    Reds 2017

There was a mention in yesterday's Tele (Payto and Panda) that Matt Taylor was the front runner for the Reds job. Anyone with inside info to confirm or deny the truth of that snippet?

Wasn't Parramatta busted about 15 years ago running out John Hopoate in a 4th Grade game?

    Reds 2016

Unfortunately Beau is yesterday's man now. If the Reds are looking for a genuine fetcher then look at QPR or the Shute Shield, if not have a look at the NPC in NZ to see if anyone looks up to the challenge.

Michael Foley should do the honourable thing and resign

Is anyone of quality available to take over as Force Head Coach? If the board are going to sack Foley they will need to be acting already to get a replacement installed (even if they don't announce it). Even if they retain Foley they need to review the coaching structure as it seems...

    Sydney First Grade teams

Red Son, in your post on Shute Shield clubs you listed West Harbour as a new club joining the competition in 1995. If memory serves me correctly Western Suburbs changed their name to West Harbour Pirates circa 1992-3.
