At Willoughby. A place where Knox tends to struggle. Though I think this year may be a little different: I believe Aloy's injury toll is mounting. Uncontested scrums may be seen in the 2nds at the very least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This year's competition is still wide open I think. Though the fact that the only unbeaten CAS side was easily accounted for by Joeys the week before the start is a concern. Especially as Joeys has had a couple of losses over in GPS land. The CAS side will want to have a good scrum and size...

Getting flogged by joeys wasn't an aberration for me back in my playing days but part of the norm.

I myself liked 'a minor aberration v Joeys'. It is similar to saying that if not for the iceberg, the Titanic would have had a great maiden voyage.

Perhaps Kemeny from Cranbrook for 7?

That is bad news. Here's hoping for a speedy and complete recovery for the poor chap.

Yes, I thought that a little odd. I think the ref went for his original feel. But it did look like a foul to me. And the Knox player went off injured as a result. But that was from my view high up - the ref may have seen it from a different angle.

The best game this weekend should be Trinity versus Waverley. At home Trinity should be hard to beat. It will interesting to see how the Trinity forwards go, as they are building a reputation of size and power. Whereas Waverley will be relying on their impressive backs. Depth will be an issue...

Yes, the talk of injuries to Knox players in that game is odd considering that they all seemed to finish that game OK. Unless their training session was a bit harsh! The Cranbrook side in the footage weren't totally bad, or at least as bad as their previous history may have indicated. So good...

The CAS side will need to have a good set piece and a great scrum. That has been the weakness in the last few years. Especially against the GPS. This year's backline will be more than useful, but I am a bit worried about the tight 5.

I think it is a rather insidious threat. But on the other hand good luck to them. They have money and a commitment to expand their game. Whereas the boffins at the ARU seem to be distracted by other stuff. I have seen somewhere that years 7 and 8 kids need to watch a firsts game in either...

A couple of random thoughts on Cranbrook vs Knox Cranbrook are quite a large side. They looked well drilled and committed. The standout player was their captain and 7 - Kemeny. He was nuisance in the line out and in the loose. He made some crucial tackles, possibly saving some tries. In the...

Rebels v Highlanders Super Rugby Rd 5

In the previous game wasn't a player sin binned for a similar lifting tackle? And they actually released and didn't injure the tackled player???

That last try summed it up. That was Lifeline sort of Rugby by the Force.

    Chiefs v Force Round 5 2016

Don't the Chiefs have to be onside at rucks and mauls in this game?

It looked as though Williams was still the coach. M Basson was the 8. I didn't know most of the players, but it appears they have a fair few back from last year. Knox looks as though they have some depth in the opens. The backs looked sharp in the seconds, so should be adding pressure to those...
