    Shute Shield 2015

I must admit to being somewhat bemused by the suggestion that Uni might complain about losing 4th grade to stacked opposition. We're talking about a club with 8 professional players in 1st grade, most parachuted in for the last few rounds of the competition. Unfortunately (?) for Uni I was...

    Sydney Colts - 2015

They could take the same approach that Randwick and (I believe) Gordon did -- "if you can't beat em, join em".

    Shute Shield 2015

Great win by the Marlins but Naracott's try for Uni must go close to being the best individual effort of the year. It'll be top of his highlight's reel.

    Shute Shield 2015

Hope Southern beat Eastwood tomorrow so we'll have a team other than Uni or Eastwood winning the SS this year.

    Sydney Colts - 2015

Southern beat West Harbour 15-10 in the U18s GF. Jack Hayson didn't play 3rds, he played all of 1sts except for the last 6 minutes having been yellow carded. Wicks won all 3 colts games comfortably in the end, but 2nds and 1sts were tough battles and credit to both Gordon (2nds) and Norths...

    Shute Shield 2015

Wouldn't be surprised in someone at Penrith played all grades this year. I seem to remember a couple of guys playing 4ths, 3rds and some time in 2nds as well when they played the Wicks.

Hard to tell which team you support looking at your picks Dave ;) What's the qualification for Rookie? I see Will Munro (Wicks) is nominated, but he played 13 1st grade games in 2014 so how is he a rookie?

    Manly 2015

Good to see -- will help offset the 8 current or previous professional players in the Uni team although, like KB (Kurtley Beale) last week, I suspect he'll need to be introduced to most of his team mates  Hope he's allowed to play the full game if the Turtle wants to use him.

    Sydney Colts - 2015

I'll be a very interested observer of him in 3rds on Saturday. If match fit, and in anything like the form before he was injured, he'll be very hard to handle in 3rds.

I was told that Gower wouldn't be back until the GF next week.

    Sydney Colts - 2015

Jack Hayson hasn't played since round 15 -- injured I assume. Which is possibly why he's returning in 3rds this week.

My post included the complete article. It was in the historical feature ie 3 brief excerpts from today's date in 1912.

Were you at this game Dave? ;) "In connection with the incident during a rugby union premiership match at Manly Oval on Saturday, July 27 (1912), when Mr Cohen ordered the entire Manly team off the field in protest over rough play, the governing body, the (Sydney) Metropolitan Rugby Union has...

Tahs have missed the boat with Hodge Dave: http://www.rugbynews.net.au/reece-hodge-signs-with-melbourne-rebels/ Maybe lost to the Marlins as well?

    Shute Shield 2015

I wasn't at the ground but the 7TWO commentator said he played "a few minutes" in 2nd grade.

    Shute Shield 2015

The difference is that the Ellas etc played many games during the season -- they didn't just appear on the scene for the finals. Of course there was no S15 in those days so they were available for their clubs much of the time.

    Shute Shield 2015

Interesting that both Uni and Randwick lost!

    Shute Shield 2015

I thought that's what the NRC was for? I think it would be reasonable to limit each club to a maximum of 2 professional players on the field at any one time in the finals unless they've actually played a set number of games for the club during the year. Maybe the SS season should be...
