Super Rugby: Round 1. Rebels vs Brumbies - 23 Feb AAMI

Well - I was primarily referring to the Brumbies being confident that if they were patient they would force an error or turnover. I don’t think they were great but I actually thought the Rebels had some good passages and they did get some pay off their big runners - but they rarely put 4+ good...

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

I think it’s fine for the QRU to consider ticket packages/discounts to get a crowd. However I’m just pointing out that there have been multiple references to the $400 subs paid by Brisbane club players as a justification for free tickets. That money doesn’t go to the QRU so expecting them to...

Super Rugby: Round 1. Rebels vs Brumbies - 23 Feb AAMI

The biggest difference to me seemed composure and confidence in the strategy. When the Brumbies were under pressure they had the confidence to trust their system and their structure. The intercept was defensive pressure. They took key lineout steaks when they needed them. Their scrum was shaky...

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

I think you’ll find the majority of the subs go back to the clubs or to insurance. Not a lot of it goes to QRU. So whilst I get the point QRU would be offering free tickets on the basis of money they never receive

Super Rugby Round One: Western Force vs Hurricanes

That’s terrible news. Poor bloke can’t catch a break. I hope it’s something minor

That’s what is being speculated. What I’d personally like to see is Hayden Thompson-Stringer in at 12, but that could be through my red tinged glasses.

On a more serious note, it’s being reported Foketi was rushed to hospital yesterday and is in doubt. Left training in a neck brace. Hopefully just a scare and everything is alright.

I think you’ll find Gamble is no longer flavour of the month. Langi Gleeson is the new shiny thing.

Surprised Campbell missed out - but I guess if Petaia got the nod at fullback then the reality is Campbell isn’t as good on the wing as he has been at 15. Otherwise though the Reds team looks pretty close to full strength. Off the top of my head only JOC (James O'Connor), Toomaga-Allen & Blyth missing. Pretty...

Not sure if this is the case in Vic but in Qld your lodgements need to be up to date to apply for a lot of grants. In some cases that’s virtually the only criteria. I’m sure plenty are still behind but I know it does help encourage clubs to stay up to date.

Noice. Where do I order the merch? Are there ankle braces in case Quade is around?

Do we have to tag Reg into all Reds related posts now?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Sure - but I don’t really think what he said is a massive issue in this instance and surely the odd comment like that isn’t the source of your angst. In any case, that still doesn’t cover my original question. What is the benefit to RA to close the Rebels down (aside from not having to fork out...

Surely you realise these guys say what they need to say in the press at times. Of course he is going to claim it wouldn’t hurt the pathways. To say otherwise would be stupid.

And I think that’ll play to Lynagh’s favour.

Well, that’s disappointing. You’re clearly no Rod McCall.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I understand you are deeply upset. But I don’t understand why you are convinced the RA wants to shut the Rebels down. I would be surprised if Phil Waugh didn’t agree with a whole bunch of the reasons you are citing for why it shouldn’t happen and I haven’t personally seen anything from him to...

    Queensland Reds 2024

Agree with the general statement - although your bench players need to be able to cover multiple spots and Kiss said as much in an interview the other day. Disagree on Creighton. From what I’ve seen at super level he is a genuine utility it has been mentioned he has been training in multiple...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I guess I more meant that if the comments in the article were implying that RA were aware of and had specifically sanctioned this expense then they would (from my non-legally trained perspective) have some grounds to step in and pay this specific amount owing. But I could well be wrong.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I can’t see how RA wouldn’t be desperate for the Rebels to survive. But they are financially strained too and actually achieving that would appear to be incredibly difficult.
