I like this too. I don't get the criticism of him. He is doing a lot of work and consistently has strong impact in contact. He reminds me a lot Kefu. Would love to see a pilfer or two and some nice linking play next.

Swinton is exactly what we need right now. Wonder when he's back.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Not 100% sure, but I'm assuming Banks has in his Japan contract he is allowed to go to the RWC. I think they are highly considering him taking him. No other scenario else makes sense. I don't think playing in Japan for a fullback (less pressure situations) will be great for his development, so...

Australia A v Japan XV matches

I agree on Gibbon and Pone. Gibbon has a knack to go for a pilfer which i really like seeing. In fact I think the whole front row of Pollard, Pone, and Gibbon made a turnover, something lacking from our current props. Not sure about Hanigan being effective on the edges. Gleeson always seems...

Australia A v Japan XV matches

I fear Hanigan might make the squad based on effort and workrate. But his lack of impact is telling. It would be a surprise if he does make the team given how much emphasis Rennie puts on the contact zone and dominating the tackle. Hanigan does everything right except for those two things. But...

Ah yes he was. Ryan and Pollard both have so much potential but seem a year or two off at least.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Well said. Hanigan looks good but doesn't dominate in contact. His workrate is great but just doesn't have the aggression for the next level. He's got the ball a few times out on the wing with 1 v 1 with smaller players and was very ineffective. Would he be any better then Holloway or Wilson...

Campbell shows brilliance on attack and just seems like a genuine fullback. Way too many errors for test rugby though, especially some of those under pressure situations. They will get punished at Test level against the teir-1 nations. Vunivalu the same. Although he is improving each week.

solid all round player but has he ever threatened the line or made a break? Running/sniping games seems non-existent.

    Reds 2023

This has been missing from all super rugby teams.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

It doesn't help that he's been moved around in so many positions. He's basically trying to learn a new position every few months. His best performances by far have been at 13 (last RWC). I hope he sticks there the whole season at the Reds now that Stewart has gone (12 Paisami, 13 Petaia). I...

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Slipper, AAA, Sio - none are known as great scrummagers IMO. At least not compared to Northern counterparts. They can hold there own most of the time but hardly dominate. My suggestion to head North for Bell could acceralate his scrummaging so he's not just capable, but better then the likes...

    Absolutely agree.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Might be controversial to say, but Bell probably would be best served heading overseas for a couple years now while he's young, get some good scrummaging in, then come back as a 25 year old at his best and dominate all levels in Aus/Pacific Super Rugby and International level. I would much...

Australia A v Japan XV matches

No, I wasn't implying he was too young for Test rugby. I was implying he is young and therefore is likely to make further improvements to his game. Compared to Hanigan who is much older and less likely to improve, especially since he hasn't in the last few years.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Gleeson lacked a little of his impact he had last Aus A, but I thought his workrate was top notch, he was doing lots of carries and was always popping up all over the park. We know he has impact, so this is a good sign IMO. I disagree on Vunivalu, some nice moments, coupled with some moments...

I hope this happens on the EOYT. Or just swap Wright for Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) who is looking pretty damn good under the high ball this season.

Thought Daugunu made some poor decisions, and it looks like he's lost a bit of pace. Although overall had a solid game.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Ah I forgot about Campbell. He looked good. Although a couple of mistakes, and there was that one pass he did running out of our own 22 which could have been catastrophic (it's the kind of thing Tom Wright does). I hope those couple of things don't work against him, because he was great with...

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) was the standout for me. Limited minutes but didn't put a foot wrong. Made the right decisions, solid under the high ball, was an attacking threat, scored a great try. Looks confident and assured. Couldn't have asked for more. Goodbye T. Wright. I don't think there were any other...
