Yeah its a long shot, and maybe he wouldn't even be as good as Rennie as he could be one of those great assistant coaches not a great head coach type person. He does strike me as a die hard kiwi and probably doesn't want anything to do with the wallabies. But I think at this stage we should be...

Based on Rennie's comments in interviews he said it was important the coaching team was primarily Australian. So you know straight away he's limiting his choices. I'd bet my house this would be at the request of Rugby Australia. Not that I think that is necessarily a bad call given it would be...

We could keep Rennie and bring Wayne Smith in as assistant coach once Laurie goes back to the Brumbies. I think the whole coaching set-up having an 'Australian flavour' was the wrong call. Just bring in the best guys for the job.

I think Wayne Smith should be in the conversation. He's got some HC experience now with the Black Ferns. Wasn't he the reason Rennie was so successful at the Chiefs.

Thorn's win record is terrible. Almost as bad as Rennie's. He's lucky Covid hit so he could beat the only competition for the trophy in the Brumbies. Also, this forum will go absolutely insane when he decides not to pick a fit Quade cos he kneed his Captain in the head 10 years ago.

Bobby V has poor body height but he makes up for it in intensity, he wins the collision most of the time. Bit of a penalty concern on defense though.

Having Foley and Noah at 10 all season, guess our expectations have lowered considerably.

Both should be gone next week. Even if both fit. I hope this is the end of Gordon and we can finally settle on Tate and White as 2 and 1.

Absolutely, our breakdown is so bad. Although it's pretty good at the Brumbies so it's strange why it's so bad for the wallabies. At least the maul defence has improved. I would say it's pretty hard to coach the collisons if you have small forwards: Hooper, Porecki etc. All you can do it train...

You say it's uncharacteristic but he's been penalised for neck rolls before. I think he's been penalised a similar amount to Fainga including a yellow card.

I wonder if Wayne Smith, coach of the black ferns, should be considered.

Surely this was the case 5 injuries ago.

Holloway getting better. Think he has really improved from the start of this season. Happy to call him a solid test player now.

Yes, but likely because there is no other options. Unless you promote MacKellar, but he's in the same coaching team so I'm not sure you would expect much of a difference there.

I maintain Ben O'Keefe is the worst ref in world rugby. He really takes the enjoyment out of watching the games. And I think the Irish would agree with us there as they had some poor calls too. Their 13 getting penalised for not rolling away but he was actually the ball carrier LOL

Also, 'pass it to Valetini' on first phase is so overdone.

On a positive, I thought our defence is improving. We managed to defend multiple phases, and the Irish never really looked that threatening. but then again, we didn't look threatening at all on attack either besides a few individual efforts by Marky marc and Petaia.

Would have bagged a great try too if it wasn't for Porecki.

First thoughts: Our Hookers cost us that game. Porecki two penalties in the first 10mins and causes a 10 point swing immediately. Then Fainga coming on and doing the exact same penalty we were warned about in a ruck that looked already won, absolute stupidity. My theory on Porecki is his lack...
