    Six Nations 2014

Step in the right direction for France but until they get a cap on the number of foreign players in the 23 they'll struggle to be consistent. Its hard to think of a French qualified ten starting regularly at the majority clubs for example. However after the last 3 Lions tours they've won a slam...

Union vs League T20 charity cricket match - 23 Jan @ SCG

I'd love to go just to check out the members pavilion and get my cricket nerd on, at the same time as supporting a good cause.

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

Don't think it will have much affect apart from enabling them to keep their own internationals at home. The French can out bid them for SH stars and the Welsh, and the IRFU can probably out bid them for any major Irish stars too.

    Sydney Subbies 2014

    Division 5 I think, not 100%. I've heard that divisions 1, 2 and 3 have been confirmed.

    Sydney Subbies 2014

Division 4 is getting confirmed this week with the following teams I hear: Blacktown Macquarie Uni Convicts Redfield St George Irish Harlequins

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

The PRL still don't realise that this is what the tournament is being run by already, but without their representation on the board. All that will happen is the 20 or so people employed by the ERC will move from D2 to D4 and get a new email account

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

I think its that the local people feel like they own part of the team. All 4 Irish teams are predominantly made up of guys from that province. The fans will see these guys out on the street, maybe have a beer with them in the pub on the off season and every week, in Leinster anyways, some of the...

    Heineken Cup 2013/14

Ulster beat Leicester overnight, Leicester had the majority of possession but could only breach the Ulster defence once. Ruan Piennar scored all 22 of Ulsters points who came back from 10 down with 25 minutes left. Ulster qualify top seeds and will have the pleasure of being the team to knock...

    Heineken Cup 2013/14

You forgot Boss, he went over for a 5th try shortly before the end. Your right about the sloppy backs moves, the skills of some of the backs have regressed since Schmidt left. Highlight of the game of me was seeing Richardt Strauss back, 3 months or so after heart surgery and he is back...

    Six Nations 2014

Ian Evans sent off for the OSpreys tonight and Richard Hibbard and Ryan Jones have gone off injured. Could be some big losses for the Welsh national side this weekend

    Waratahs 2014

The members mail indicates that all the Wallabies from the spring tour will be available for the trial game against the Blues in SFS. We might see some of the questions about what Chieka will do to fit Beale into the team answered.

    JOC (James O'Connor) Gooonne

JOC (James O'Connor) looking to come back in January 2015, seems like he is looking for a short term NH deal for the first half of next season. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/rugby-union/25747826

New French TV Deal - Implications for Rugby as a whole

I think your referring to the JIFF rules (certain number of 23 has to have come through academy), I think the implementation of these would lead to less journeymen being signed by French clubs and a more focused targeting of marquee internationals. Your right about the Irish system. Jonny...

New French TV Deal - Implications for Rugby as a whole

Thanks for the reply @train with a station, you've made some really good points which I haven't considered. Points 3 and 4 wouldn't apply too much to someone from the NH playing in France as they would still be playing international rugby and European club rugby so they would be maintaining...

New French TV Deal - Implications for Rugby as a whole

I understand this but the dollars that the French teams can throw at the marquee names has just been increased by 2.8M per season. Given the like of Genia, Folau and Cooper are a precious commodity would they turn down 2M Euro a year to stay and play for their country? This is a game changing...

New French TV Deal - Implications for Rugby as a whole

I was going to post this on the Northern Hemisphere thread but thought it affects SANZAR rugby as much as it affect us up norf'. Overnight the French Top 14 confirmed their TV deal for the next 5 years, it has gone up from 31M Euros to 70M Euros (ish). The breakdown per year is below: Season...

    Six Nations 2014

He and Bowe need to prove their fitness, I assume they'll both be in the Wolfhounds XV against England and will be in the trimmed down 30 man squad to face Wales.

    Six Nations 2014

Provisional Irish squad and the Welsh squad have been named: Ireland extended 44-man squad for Six Nations: Forwards: Rodney Ah You (Connacht)*, Stephen Archer (Munster), Rory Best (Ulster), Robin Copeland (Cardiff Blues)*, Sean Cronin (Leinster), Robbie Diack (Ulster)*, Cian Healy...
