The success of League players in Rugby Union

League is a sport where everyone has to essentially the exact same role, which is to make metres. The only exception to this rule the halves and hooker, but realistically these days most league sides play with a combination of one playmaker and a facilitator. Look at the the rabbitohs as an...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

Next round could be quite telling of how the season pans out from here. If wests win they could be a dark horse to make finals. If Brothers win they could potentially be the only team that remains unbeaten. Easts vs University has the potential to be a cracker, if Easts lose they will be up...

    Reds 2014

There was no cap space to recruit with. Hence why all people signed, bar turner where pulled from club rugby. White had oodles of space because big earners such as AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) & Giteau had been moved along.

    Reds 2014

People are comparing RG to Foley and White and how the teams they have coached have experienced a renaissance under their tutelage without the need for squad turnover... This is very incorrect. Foley's first year while not very good, gave him time to push out a large amount of players he did...

    Reds 2014

I have been mulling the reds situation for a while now and something has come to my attention… There has been talks of player being stale and that the reds recruitment has been poor and what not. But my question is; did Richard Graham really have a chance for success when he is playing with...

    Rebels 2014

Thing is the outlay for these two's rookie contract is far less than the outlay of Lealifano's so cap space wouldn't be an issue. However if Lealifano was brought in at the expense of renewing Inman or Woodward's contract and then went down injured. The rebels would be in a lot more strife...

    Rebels 2014

Agreed. But Hegarty isn't the sacred cow I speak of, Debrezcni is the rebels future and I bet my bottom dollar on him being the rebels backline general in years to come. It may seem unfounded however his skills in Shute Shield last year where impressive, and I think a professional S&C program...

    Rebels 2014

Let's put this in perspective, Lealifano is 27 this year and will be 28 next year. So odds are the very best the Rebels could hope for is to have him for 2-3 years and he isn't really a chance for the 2019 world cup so he would probably want to cash in now why his body is still somewhat good...

    Rebels 2014

A flyhalf is not the issue. Between Debrezcni and Hegarty the rebels are set for the next few years. Any 10 the rebels bring in will only be a band aid solution.

Converting backrowers to centres has worked well for UQ in the past, Ryan Leeson is evidence of this.

Team Lists are out: http://www.redsrugby.com.au/ArticleDetails/tabid/526/ArticleID/11324/Queensland-Premier-Rugby-Preview-round-four.aspx Interesting line-up for brothers, no Payne, Moloney or Greene?

    Force v Tahs, round 9 2014

A lot of emphasis and praise is lumped onto the Force's backrow and how it seems to be so balanced and how they have been a real catalyst for the Force's success. However I would argue that their back three are just as important and equally as balanced. I am not sure who made the decision, but...

    QLD Colts 2014

I don't think Wests will win but I doubt after 2 losses and 1 win, Wests are in need of a 'Reality Check'... I think it will be closer than most think, I am expecting a 15-32ish scoreline

@FilthRugby what are your thoughts for Brothers weekend matchup? Can we expect to see your young stars in Moloney, Situati, Payne and Greene line up? If so I reckon Brothers are in with a real shout and I am a little upset I won't be at Chippsy Wood to see what will an epic encounter.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

Wests defence was much improved against norths. While it' hard to say that they ground the win out, norths is backline can create a lot of chances. A lot of wests tries came from turnovers that where the result of real desperation in defence. And as SX said the lineout has been real strong point...
