    Wallabies Jerseys Going Cheap

Skippy - I think you are on the right track. In terms of Jersey Logos: Manufacturers / Brand logos started to appear on Rugby Jerseys from early - mid 80's. Sponsor logos however did not until the early 90's for most countries. I dont think Adidas couldn't make rugby jerseys locally so they...

    Wallabies Jerseys Going Cheap

Skippy - You are right, It does seem to be the same jersey. Peerless may have been a manufacturer for Adidas in OZ back then, much the same as LWR was for Adidas in NZ. Certainly the 3 stripes has always been an Adidas thing and these days is one of their legal trademarks. Maybe back then...

    Wallabies Jerseys Going Cheap

Adidas did make that 1984 Jersey. The pics at the top show 2 different jerseys - the back view is an Adidas one, the 2 front view pics are Peerless. Pre 1990 there weren't really official licensed jerseys. The ARU wallaby logo didnt appear till 1996 before that (1990 or so) it was an oblong aru...

Glen Jackson - Rebels vs Brumbies

"he should've penalised the Rebels scrum leading up to their penalty they scored in the early stages of the match as Rodzilla clearly put his hand on the ground (as did Somerville a few times later in the match)..." Interesting that Craig Jobert also let a couple of these hands on the floor...

    Al Baxter retires

What would be next for Al? Maybe he could join TV commentary team. A front rower is well overdue, if I hear another comment like "Ohh the dark arts of the front row, who knows what goes on in there" I will kick my TV

One hell of a whinge from our Kiwi compadres

Well it was a Kiwi TV rugby Show on SKY NZ hosted by NZders what else did you expect?

    Headgear?

Scarfman - I think you'll find that BB has agreed to play by the IRB rules regulations etc by virtue of a contract or something else he has signed. In the end of the day if the ARU thinks BB istoo much trouble, then they just wont pick him, surely? As mentioned in the report quoted above in...

    Headgear?

Agree with your sentiment re Juniors / school-boys, but at the pro level these days, some of the hits and ruck / maul clear-outs are brutal, the game is now designed for human exocets. Back in the day being able to use your feet in rucks meant the type of body on body contact we see now wasnt a...

    Headgear?

Habana wears CCC baselayers he is contracted to them. Fine to wear long sleeve tops but leggings are a no no.

One hell of a whinge from our Kiwi compadres

Doubtful that a ref would PK that offence as he would hopefully apply "Materiality"

    Headgear?

Actually I dont think there is anything in the LOTG about wearing 2 headguards. maybe he could wear a size medium and a size large over the top of it !!

    Headgear?

Well- imagine that all 6 front rowers have headgear on - and the IRB have allowed increased to say 25mm padding - that would equate to 4 players' heads having extra 25mm room each side = 200mm space needed - I think this would affect scrummaging & binding adversly.

    Headgear?

Headgear was never intended to prevent concussion. Concussion is caused by the brain accelerating inside the head and banging inside the skull. No headgear would stop that other than a crash helmet. At this stage IRB regs prevent anything other than 10mm padding, even going to 20mm as in...

One hell of a whinge from our Kiwi compadres

This diagram is helpful re what is offside etc at the ruck. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o35/smartcooky99/RuckOffside.jpg It debunks some the coming in at the side argument

One hell of a whinge from our Kiwi compadres

Thanks Jay - many people think the "Gate" exists at the ruck, including a fair number of commentators. LAW 16.5 (c) Players joining or rejoining the ruck. A player joining a ruck must do so from behind the foot of the hindmost team-mate in the ruck. A player may join alongside this hindmost...

One hell of a whinge from our Kiwi compadres

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c47OilYALzs This video is slightly better quality - the Reds hooker comes up momentarily at 2:51 before Flynns comes up at 2:53, however I think SD could have also PK'd Red 1 for deliberately pushing past 90 and that seems to precipitate his decision. Sd...

One hell of a whinge from our Kiwi compadres

SD does actually signal what it was for - he raises his right arm twice signally reds FR came up - specifically the hooker

One hell of a whinge from our Kiwi compadres

-What would SD be warning RMC about?? He was at least 2-3 mtrs back before he took off for the ball?? SD does then say clearly "No Stay back dont touch it" but that is almost at the same time as he goes for the ball. Too late imho. He blows the PK then signals that the ruck had formed, fair...
