Its a Waitangi Day clash between Qld Maori and Qld Tonga I'm fairly sure.

    Ideas for NRC 2015

This is probably more aimed at the specific teams rather than the NRC comp as a whole but it would be good to get some more 'brand' integration at club level leading up to the competition kickoff. To me, the NRC comp still kind of feels like its just been whacked on at the end of the club...

Reds V Crusaders Friday 6th Feb - Ballymore

Good to see Robbie Fruean having a run for the Saders. I really want to attend this game but I'm also somewhat skeptical. The last Reds trial I attended at Ballymore (this time last year) was an absolute shambles in terms of getting access to the bar and access to transport etc. I'll probably...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

The fact still remains the club only ended up with 1 Premiership which is below the club average per year as of late. Anyway, the point was more that the club and specifically Premier Grade are in an unfavorable situation with some new faces and not the ideal way to be playing the first round...

Same thing happened in 2008 for GPS and it didn't work out so well for the club, they only won the Colts 2 premiership. I'd say it's more of a disadvantage.

Had a look at GPS playing schedule last night. Due to the earlier season start and Yoku Rd also being home to Valley's Cricket Club it looks like all GPS teams will be playing the entire 1st round (except for one game) away from home. Not an ideal situation with a new coach and some new players...

    Reds 2015

Article in Courier Mail today suggesting Genia will be off to Stade at the end of the season. Is this new? I think most people realized he was moving on, most likely to Bath. A few interesting points at the end as well, for example Thomson will play in the trial this Friday. Source...

    Reds 2015

Of course they can. But I believe the psychology of it all also plays a factor. Duncan is a young player who has only ever played in an age restricted comp, shouldering the Reds is a much bigger ask. Knowing he has someone like KHunt sitting on his outside shoulder would most likely be very...

    Reds 2015

For my money, Duncan is the best option to play at 10 until Quade returns, providing he is given adequate support from whomever is playing 12. In other words, I think the Reds need to play a ball distributor at 12, at least for the first couple of rounds and see how it goes. Hunt would be my...

Who has left gps for norths? As of last week the only player I am aware of is Mitch Fuller, many of last year's reggies blokes have retired or are playing lower grades at GPS.

Warhorse, without hype being raised from the Nest per say there is definitely an aura of confidence coming from the club for 2015 compared to past years would you say?

    Qld election promises

warhorse, without trying to turn GAGR into a political war-zone I will say that the letter that was sent out to GPS Members on behalf of the club ruffled some feathers among supporters. The letter definitely wasn't as black and white as 'Vote for Campbell!' but it was still a bit out of place to...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

Norths have put themselves into a position to improve this year but I think they would be setting themselves a more realistic goal than trying to win the whole thing in 2015. The unfortunate thing for Norths is depth at the club has been lacking through the grades, thereby once a few injuries...

    Rugby 7s general chat

If the team looks to be lacking a pure speedster for the Olympics then picking up a lightning winger from the NRL probably wouldn't be a bad move. I doubt any NRL players would form key members of the squad but I can envision a few blokes who would be handy in the final minutes to get us over...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

Fair enough wahorse. It seems that at least for 2015, GPS has managed to retain the glut of players I feared would be heading to Souths. Will be interesting though to see how many stick around after this year, depending on how the team goes and gels with Dammers. As I've said before his...

    Reds 2015

Surprised about the selection of Banks. I thought maybe someone like Pincus would have been worthy of the call up. Regardless though with Turner and Taps still to come back there are a lot of backs to choose from - will be surprised if someone outside the main squad gets a run in the season.

warhorse any news out of Souths? Has the change in coaches brought many new faces?

Its just a shame the three players I was most looking forward to watching this year aren't taking the field yet! - Quade, Kerevi and Thomson.

    Reds 2015

My point isn't trying to withhold the game from country supporters. My point is that from a player management perspective, putting their body under the stresses associated with that climate seems to be a silly move, especially in a first trial. Rugby is predominately a winter sport for a reason...

It still seems like poor planning, sending the players to a location that at this time of year is known for its high heat and frequent rain. I love Cairns but would not be keen to play rugby up there anytime in the early months of the year.
